“You just spooked everyone telling them to stop pile (for a crisis)” Andy Burnham:- <Smug look & laughs knowingly> “It’s a challenging World” The UK PM treats the Public with absolute contempt after telling everyone they need to “prepare for a crisis” - now we can’t even keep a straight face‼️

Why did this take all day to congratulate Lula on his re-election and still now the PM still hasn't bothered.
Congratulations to @LulaOficial on his re-election. Together, our two governments have promoted shared values of democracy, social justice and climate action since 2024 and look forward to continuing to do so. His victory is a historic win for the global progressive movement.

Unravelling before our eyes
Andy Burnham has rowed back on comments he made opening the door to signing up to EU freedom of movement 🔗 telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…

Terrible - isn't it
7.30am, PM: "I'm going to be honest and say, in my lifetime I would like to see [the UK rejoin EU]". 12.30pm, No 10: "He is crucially not leaning either way... He’s not setting out a concrete position." 🫠

He's lost his marbles - is what I think
NEW There is some confusion over Andy Burnham's position on Brexit Earlier this morning: Reporter asks: "Will you allow the UK to join the EU freedom of movement without a referendum?" Andy Burnham says: "No. And I wasn't saying that", adding that he would "never move ahead of the British public when it comes to Brexit". 11.30am Lobby briefing: Number 10 will now not say whether the British public will get a referendum on rejoining EU freedom of movement. A spokesman says: "The process will be set out in due course ... He wants to have an open debate about this.... there are no options on the table." What do you think? More now on @GBNEWS.

NUTS That's how he approaches everything
Chaotic lobby briefing eventually clarifies that just because Andy Burnham said he would hold a referendum before reviving free movement with the EU, that does not mean he will

Seems to me the Government is split over everything. This is what happens with a weak Leader - that can't make a decision by himself.

Complete madness - and you can tell Wilf thinks so too.
🗣️ 'Would rejoining the EU require a referendum?' - @WilfredFrost Sky's Wilfred Frost questions Labour MP Sally Jameson on the govt's plan for a better relationship with the EU, as the PM rules out rejoining the EU 'this parliament.'

Burnham is expected to include his Brexit plan in Labour's manifesto they will have to back the plans even if they have concerns Despite previously promising he would not use Party Discipline to stifle debate-when he wanted the PLP to endorse him as PM xitter.cf/LabourBerry/status/211…

So why is everything he keeps rambling on about is either the past - or to do with the next GE. It's the same as what he said about bloody Brexit before he decided to go at full pelt. For someone who was claimed the king of comms -he certainly has a lot of mixed messages
Andy Burnham insists he has ruled out an early election on @GMB ‘I don’t think people want another backward looking squabble. They want me to get on with the job’

Mayor Burnham wants to 'debate, discuss, consider the options, think seriously about' etc because it means he doesn't have to make a decision, especially one that might be unpopular.

She was treated appallingly by the Media and press - along with opposition Party's. Her colleagues stood by and did nothing to support her - they wanted her gone along with Starmer.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Reeves decides enough is enough. Did a far better job as chancellor than many credit her for in extraordinarily difficult times. Local elections in Leeds next May would be the obvious exit time.

It's not only exhausting and depressing trying to keep up with constant empty headlines - it's creating high anxiety and uncertainty
Wanting to debate everything before making any decision is paralysing the country Burnhams timidity, the endless discussions before decisions is creating a needless barrier to UK progress With a huge majority it's time for action Voters will either reward or punish at the next GE

A fascinating exit interview with Alex Depledge, who has just quit as Treasury's entrepreneurship adviser. Ministers obsess over steel, cars and factories she says - while treating the companies that could drive Britain's future prosperity as a sideshow thetimes.com/business/compan…
