“No war is inevitable, no life is worth less than another.” “When some were betting on bombs, we said no to war.” “When it was demanded we raised military spending to 5%, we said no to cutting the welfare state.” We need these principles from MP’s in Westminster.
Durante estos años, España ha defendido en el mundo el sentir de su gente: que ninguna guerra es inevitable, que ninguna vida vale menos que otra. Los mismos principios. En todos los conflictos. Sin dobles raseros.

Brazil votes on Sunday in an election that'll help shape the future of the world: fascism or social progress. I’ve joined 40 MPs & 10 union general secretaries warning against Trump’s interference in Brazil, which is a blatant attempt to stop Lula winning nocoupinbrazil.wordpress.com…

🚨BREAKING: It's confirmed I'll be presenting my petition for a windfall tax on banks in Parliament this Monday. The banks are making BILLIONS in extra profits from the higher interest rates hammering ordinary people. Over 10,000 have backed it. Sign 👇 c.org/b2fyXDswpJ

More than third of post offices in TG Jones (formerly WH Smith) stores to shut by early 2027 WH Smith was bought by private equity, shut-down shops. Many towns/districts are without a bank branch or a post office. Cuts footfall, bad news for traders. theguardian.com/business/202…

As Netanyahu starts the process of turning the West Bank into a second Gaza our government has to act. The message needs to go out that this extension of the genocide will not be tolerated. Full sanctions and political isolation of Israel must be lead by the UK. theguardian.com/world/2026/o…

I joined the Make Polluters Pay campaign outside Parliament. It’s simple really. Oil and gas giants have made billions hurtling us toward climate catastrophe. They should pay their fair share to fund the green transition.

On Tuesday, MPs held an evidence session into alternative forms of ownership for water. This wouldn’t have happened without the groundswell of support for public ownership. The pressure this has created has pushed the debate on from whether we replace the current privatised mess, to how we replace it. Off the back of this, I and 30 other Labour MPs have called on the Prime Minister to make public ownership the ultimate goal for water in his 10-year plan, and commit to a feasibility study that sets out how we get there. This government can be the one that fixes water for good - but only if it commits to full public ownership. Read more here: inews.co.uk/news/burnhams-pl…

Energy company and Scottish Power owner Iberdrola has revealed its profits for 2026 so far, including £2.2 billion in UK earnings. That means in the five minutes it takes to microwave a meal, Iberdrola would make around £25,000 on its UK operations alone. The firm that controls the electricity network for millions of customers in Scotland, Wales and North West England has made these profits as a new survey has found that 9 million homes will be heading into winter in energy debt. With the Budget on the horizon, the Chancellor must use it to clear this mountain of energy debt before it gets worse. The Budget must also be used prepare an Emergency Heat Tariff covering gas, electric and heating oil homes, while also expanding the Warm Home Discount. #EndFuelPoverty #EnergyBills

Today I’m sporting a ribbon that a young constituent sent me and asked me to wear to mark International Stammering Awareness Day. My constituent wrote “the blue symbolises the inner peace needed when communicating with someone who stammers, and the green symbolises freedom from the shame that haunts many stammerers.” Today I reflected on the fact that Nye Bevan, founder of our NHS and one of the most powerful public speakers in Britain’s history, had a stammer and was bullied about his stammer when he was growing up. #ISAD #ISAD2026
