The last couple of years have been the hardest of my life. So many things were said. So many stories. Only God knows the truth. I went quiet because sometimes silence is the only way to find peace. I needed time to heal and find myself again.
But music is my life. The Marlians are my family. And it's time to come back together.
π 12.12.2026. Eagles Club Field, Surulere. MARLIANS FEST.
I won't be coming alone, Coming with friends .
This one is for growth. For healing. For moving forward. For everyone we have lost along the way.
To my Marlians who never left me, thank you. I see you. I love you.

SO WHO STILL HAS THE POWER?
Let us tell the truth:
- In SPIRITUAL power, Ooni is ahead. Ife is the source. No Yoruba king can pray for Yoruba land without Ife. The world recognises Ife as the cradle.
- In HISTORICAL POLITICAL power, Alaafin is ahead. Oyo was the empire. Oyo was the government. Oyo was the army.
- In INTERNATIONAL power today, Ooni is ahead. Brazil, America, Canada, UNESCO world β Ooni has carried Yoruba name further in this democratic era.
- In LOCAL POLITICAL power today, both are limited. Neither controls soldiers again. Both must now work through governors, presidents and the law.
So superiority is a trap. Brotherhood is the power.
Alaafin without Ooni is a body without spirit.
Ooni without Alaafin is a spirit without a body.
CONCLUSION
My brothers and sisters, let us stop this fight.
Yoruba kings should focus more on influence to protect Yoruba heritage, tradition and culture than fighting for superiority.
We need:
- Alaafin to protect Oyo history and Yoruba political dignity.
- Ooni to protect Ife spirituality and Yoruba global identity.
- Both to protect our language, our festivals, our Isese, our children from losing who they are.
In October 2025, both kings met in Lagos and committed to peaceful coexistence and mutual respect. That is the spirit we must keep.
Let us respect one another.
Ooni is our spiritual father. Alaafin is our historical king. Both are our pride.
Yoruba does not need a supreme king fighting another supreme king.
Yoruba needs two strong kings working as brothers to save one great nation.

Let us judge by IMPACT, not by TITLE.
1. THE IMPACT OF OONI OF IFE β OBA ADEYEYE ENITAN OGUNWUSI
Ooni holds Ile-Ife, the spiritual home of the Yoruba. In tradition, Ife is where the world was created, where Oduduwa descended. That is not politics. That is identity.
His impact in todayβs society:
a) Spiritual Leadership
- Custodian of Olojo Festival, the festival of the Black race, which brings Yoruba from all over the world home to Ife every year.
- Voice for Isese practitioners who were for years demonised and silenced.
b) International Relationship / Diaspora
- In 2023, he went to Brazil, met President Lula da Silva in Brasilia, and addressed the Brazilian Parliament to inaugurate the first-ever National Orisa Day in Brazil.
- He presented a Certificate of Yoruba Territory to the Quilombola community in Brazil, making it the first city outside Africa to receive that title.
- That was not just a visit. That was Yoruba religion getting recognition in a foreign parliament.
- He has also been honoured in Brampton, Canada and celebrated in the US with the ΓαΉ’Γ10 festival for his 10th coronation anniversary, uniting Yoruba in America, Caribbean and Africa.
c) Policy Influence in Government
- He is Permanent Chairman of Southern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Council.
- He is Chairman, Board of Trustees of the World Orisha Congress (WOOCON), working with the Federal Government through NICO to make Nigeria the centre of global Orisha tourism.
- He has pushed for Yoruba culture to be treated as national asset, not fetish.
d) Youth, Peace and Unity
- Known as youth-friendly king, he has consistently preached peace, unity and one Yoruba family, even when provoked. When Alaafin issued a 48-hour ultimatum over the Okanlomo title in August 2025, Ooni instructed his palace to ignore it and leave it to public opinion.
2. THE IMPACT OF ALAAFIN OF OYO β OBA ABIMBOLA OWOADE I
Alaafin holds Oyo, the political heart of the Yoruba. In history, the Old Oyo Empire was one of the most powerful empires in West Africa. Alaafin was the political head. That history is real and cannot be erased.
His impact in todayβs society:
a) Historical / Political Leadership
- Custodian of Oyo Empire history, the empire that spread Yoruba civilisation, administration, military organisation and diplomacy across West Africa from the 14th to 18th century.
- His stool represents political power, not just spiritual power.
b) Cultural Revival
- He has announced the maiden Oyo Empire Day, December 17-19, 2026, to bring together all communities historically connected to the Oyo Empire, to preserve heritage and promote unity.
- He has been vocal about Yoruba history being taught correctly, not distorted.
c) Policy Influence in Government
- Alaafin is a major voice in Oyo State traditional politics. Even after the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs Law 2025 removed his stool as permanent chairman, his voice still shapes debate in Oyo.
- He has insisted that no one can confer a title covering the whole of Yorubaland without regard for history and law β that was the basis of his objection to the Okanlomo of Yorubaland title.
d) Development of Oyo
- His message has been consistent: βWhen Oyo succeeds, the Yoruba in their entirety get honoured.β
- He is pushing Oyo as a centre for cultural tourism, just as Ife is a centre for spiritual tourism.

Nigerians can contest and win elections in the US, Canada, the UK, and other Western countries, but Nigerians living in Nigeria cannot dream of vying for a political post outside their home state.
In fact, in Lagos, non-Yoruba Nigerians are threatened with violence against voting for any party that is not the APC.
Nigerians feel more at home abroad than they do outside their home state in Nigeria. They pay taxes to the state but dare not demand accountability from the state government or contribute to political activities and conversations in the state.
When you ask, βWhy is it so,β dim-witted urchins emerge from their hopeless hideouts to attack you and ask you to βgo back to your state.β
Nigeria does not have the colouration of a country.βοΈ

Dear Mr. Governor @jidesanwoolu,
Cc: @IdrisConnecting, @Riddwane, @gbenga_omo
I write to you today with a profound sense of urgency, returning to a matter of significant cultural and economic imperative for Lagos State: the institutionalization of the Gele Festival within the Stateβs flagship Detty December calendar.
Months ago, following my initial proposal, the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe (@IdrisConnecting), publicly affirmed the merits of this initiative. His acknowledgement celebrated across national media, including The Guardian highlighted the Geleβs global prominence and promised its central integration into the Stateβs proposed Yoruba Week. Yet, despite these public assurances, months have lapsed into quietude, leaving a vital promise unfulfilled while the deliberate erasure of our heritage gathers momentum.Β
Silence in the stewardship of culture is a luxury we can ill afford. While our institutions remain passive, revisionist actors have launched an aggressive campaign to sever the Gele from its Yoruba roots:
1. Digital Falsification: Vigilant Yoruba archivists recently uncovered and systematically dismantled a fraudulent Wikipedia entry engineered to rewrite the historical genealogy of the Gele.
2. Intellectual Piracy & Bad Faith: We witnessed a brazen attempt to co-opt the masterwork of Dr. Azeezat Abiola Amusat, who expertly styled the Gele worn by BeyoncΓ©. When Dr. Azeezat rightly instituted legal proceedings, the offender merely excise the images of BeyoncΓ© and re-uploaded the content, a calculated gesture that demonstrates deliberate, bad-faith intent to appropriate our heritage under false nomenclature.
3. The Irony of Local Venues: Most concerningly, events seeking to rebrand and claim Yoruba cultural property continue to find safe harbor within venues in Lagos itself a stark contradiction for a state that stands as the historical heartbeat of Yorubaland.
The Gele is not a mere accessory; it is an architectural triumph of fabric, an enduring symbol of aristocratic elegance, and a living testament to Yoruba feminine artistry. What we fail to formally document, aggressively celebrate, and legally safeguard will inevitably be claimed, renamed, and monetized by others.
As Special Adviser, Mr. Aregbeβs primary duty is the uncompromising protection and projection of our cultural sovereignty. History is rarely kind to public officers who observe the slow dissipation of their peopleβs legacy with indifference.
I urge the Lagos State Government to move decisively from sentiment to execution.
Let us establish the Gele Festival this December to showcase our master artisans, empower our creative value chains, and permanently anchor the Geleβs identity on the global stage.
Furthermore, by extending an invitation to our sister states across the South-West, Lagos can lead a unified regional front for heritage tourism.
Our culture demands more than applause; it requires institutional resolve. Let us act before our history is written for us by foreign hands.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Ademola
Thank you Ademola,
This perfectly aligns with the Lagos State Government's proposed Yoruba Week, which will come up before the end of the year.
Gele, being a Yoruba traditional headtie that is now popular within West African countries and around the world, should definitely be a big part of the event.
This is to showcase our rich culture, elegance, and the βEko For Showβ spirit.

I had a great time on Masoyinbo, exploring the importance of Yoruba in our society and why we must preserve the language, celebrate our culture and pass our rich heritage on to future generations.
Yoruba is more than a language. It is part of our identity, history, values and what connects us as a community. While our diversity is one of our greatest strengths, preserving our indigenous languages is a responsibility we all share.
Building a greater Lagos means investing not only in infrastructure and public services but also in our people, culture and values. We must work together to keep our heritage alive for generations to come.
Masoyinbo is doing a wonderful job of preserving our heritage while keeping us informed and entertained, whether in Lagos or anywhere else in the world.
