Male authors are being sidelined in the publishing industry, resulting in an overwhelming number of female protagonists on our shelves—and a dearth of male ones.
By policing who and what gets published, the hegemons of the publishing industry encourage one-sided stories that focus on the female experience and do not have much to bring to a male readership.
No wonder young men are no longer reading.

Hey man can we circle back around to your wife calling 9 year olds “would-be incels”? Feel like this is insane to drop and leave there.

Percy Jackson was first published 21 years ago. The newest heroes in the Olympiad series are gay.
Lord of the Rings was published 71 years ago
Harry Potter was first published 29 years ago

Patrick Ness likely hasn’t published anything anyone had read for 13 years. And no, A Monster Calls, despite being an incredible work, is not a book a young boy would pick up to read.
No young men in the last generation have ever read Patterson. Even if in the last 30 years they read a book with his name on it.
So we have Sanderson currently putting out stuff and he’s also self-publishing, and that’s it on your whole list

It's fine for boys to like books about boys doing boy things. Maybe even written by male authors. Maybe publishers should publish those.
Young boys are being discouraged from getting into reading—and it’s because more books are missing one key element, @sophiah_n reports: theatlantic.com/culture/2026…

A statistic that sounds fake but isn't: Not one single white American man born after 1984 has published a work of literary fiction in The New Yorker.
It's not because they stopped writing. It's because The New Yorker has refused to publish them. The publishing industry has blacked out a generation of male writers & then they wonder why boys don't read.
About 70% of publishing professionals are women.
Because agents and editors tend to select books they personally relate to, an increasing number of male authors are being sidelined in the publishing industry, resulting in an overwhelming number of female protagonists on our shelves—and a dearth of male ones.
No wonder young men are no longer reading.

I’m not ashamed to have a basic taste in 2026. I know you all prefer alt and goth mommies. But I like what I like. Crucify me if you have to.

Flat chested women look youthful and sophisticated. There's something aristocratic about flat chests.
When you imagine a princess, you don't imagine fat tits. Fat tits evoke thoughts of commoner barmaid wenches and whores.
"I'm not gay"
Here are my actual mytype.fyi results
And no I’m not gay I just picked the guys I considered most handsome.
