Σήμερα ή εντός του Σαββατοκύριακου αναμένεται η έναρξη των ερευνητικών εργασιών του γαλλικού πλοίου «Abeille Marengo» για την ηλεκτρική διασύνδεση Ελλάδας – Κύπρου (Great Sea Interconnector – GSI). Το πλοίο βρίσκεται στο λιμάνι του Ηρακλείου και θα κινηθεί αρχικά εντός ελληνικών χωρικών υδάτων.
Θα προηγηθεί η έκδοση της σχετικής NAVTEX από την Υδρογραφική Υπηρεσία του Πολεμικού Ναυτικού (σταθμός Ηρακλείου), μετά την εισήγηση της Επιτροπής Χορήγησης Αδειών Ερευνών Θαλάσσης (ΕΧΑΕΘ) και την έγκριση του υπουργείου Εξωτερικών.
Τις τελευταίες ημέρες υπάρχει διπλωματική κινητικότητα από γαλλικής πλευράς προς την Τουρκία σε σχέση με το ζήτημα της "ενημέρωσης" της γείτονος για τις εργασίες του πλοίου. Απομένει να φανεί ποια "φόρμουλα" έχει επιλεγεί για το θέμα και πώς θα αντιδράσει η Τουρκία.

Z-channel sources report that a massive attack involving 28 UGVs from the 3rd Army Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was repelled against positions of the Russian Armed Forces’ 20th Combined Arms Army somewhere in the Lyman area.
According to Russian sources, the group of Ukrainian ground drones consisted of 2 UGVs equipped with Mk-19 automatic grenade launchers, 18 UGVs armed with RPGs (2 AT-4s each), and 8 kamikaze UGVs. The attack was repelled by FPV drones and drones carrying drop munitions.
The Z-channel sources emphasize that this was reportedly the first time the Ukrainians attempted an offensive without infantry, using exclusively 28 UGVs — essentially a platoon of robots. They describe it as “the largest visually documented engagement involving ground robots in the entire war.”

Iranian-born Canadian activist Parishad Kavyani, who spent more than two years marching in support of Palestine, has publicly broken with the movement, accusing former allies of hypocrisy, discrimination and selectively defending human rights.
Kavyani said she had experienced more homophobia, racism and sexism from left-wing activists over the past nine months than ever before.
Kavyani, who grew up under Iran's Islamic Republic before moving to Canada at 14, criticized pro-Palestine activists for advocating women's rights while remaining silent about Iranian women fighting against compulsory hijab laws and other restrictions imposed by Tehran.
She also accused some activists of defending the Iranian regime and sharing material supportive of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Kavyani said Hamas's October 7, 2023, attack on Israel was a turning point, explaining that she could not support the killing, rape, torture or hostage-taking of civilians simply because they were Israeli.
She argued that human rights should apply equally to everyone, regardless of nationality or political beliefs, and accused parts of the movement of prioritizing ideology over protecting innocent people.

Russia dropped nine aerial bombs on people waiting for humanitarian aid in Komyshuvakha, then struck the rescuers and police officers who came to help them.
40 people have been killed so far, and more than 30 may still be under the rubble. Ukraine needs air defense now.
Search and rescue operations have now been underway for three days at the site of the Russian strike on a school in the settlement of Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region. The Russians used nine aerial bombs. They first struck people who had come to receive humanitarian aid, and then first responders and police officers who arrived at the scene.
All necessary services are involved. It is an extremely difficult operation, very challenging, and it is being carried out under virtually constant threat of new Russian strikes. As of now, 40 people have been reported killed. Unfortunately, some bodies have not yet been identified. My condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed. More than 30 people may still be under the rubble.
Unfortunately, there has been very little reaction from the world to this insane attack. But it, like thousands upon thousands of other war crimes Russia has committed against Ukraine and Ukrainians, demands a strong response. Evil always goes further if it is left unanswered. We count on a response – Ukraine needs air defense support right now. I am grateful to the partners who are taking such steps.

BREAKING: Iran’s terrorist Islamic regime has executed two more political prisoners, Amir Hossein Ebrahimi and Amir Hossein Maleki, in Isfahan, seeking to spread fear and deter Iranians from rising up against it.
The regime condemned them for what it calls “waging war against Allah,” treating opposition to its rule as opposition to God. To justify its repression, it portrays the millions of Iranians who protested against it as agents of foreign enemies, including Israel and the United States.

1,293 km for Turkey and
1,127 km for Greece
a difference of only 166.450 km and a ratio of approximately 1.15:1.
This bears no resemblance to the propaganda claim of “1,870 versus 167 km”, which is manufactured by tracing every indentation of Turkey’s highly irregular mainland coast and then adding another 210 km from the complete perimeters of 108 islands, islets and rocks.

And even the 1,660 km mainland figure is not a neutral geographical fact. It results from tracing every indentation of Turkey’s highly irregular coastline, following deep into gulfs and around minor coastal convolutions in order to inflate the total.
Applying a consistent geometric bay-closing method using closing chords, a maximum mouth width of 24 NM and an Article 10-style semicircle test, reduces the same mainland coastline from 1,659.946 km to approximately 1,293.112 km.
Ten selected closures alone eliminate about 366.834 km of artificial coastal detail.
So the Turkish propaganda figure is inflated twice:
1) first by measuring every fold of the indented mainland coast, and then
2) by adding another 210.133 km from the complete perimeters of 108 nearby islands, islets and rocks:
1,293 km bay-closed mainland coastline
1,660 km highly detailed, indented mainland trace
1,870 km after adding every nearby island, islet and rock

The notorious “1,870 km of Turkish coastline” turns out to be yet another piece of Turkish cartographic fraud, manufactured by Turkey’s propaganda apparatus and repeated by Turkish clowns such as Adem of the notorious Turkic Facts or, more accurately, Turkic Farts. 🦃💨
Length of Turkey’s mainland Mediterranean coastline: 1,659.946 km
Combined perimeter of 108 coastal islands, islets and rocks: 210.133 km
The calculation was performed by geodesically measuring each consecutive segment on the WGS 84 ellipsoid and adding together the closed perimeters of 108 insular formations along Turkey’s Mediterranean mainland coast.
The result is revealing: 1,659.946 + 210.133 = 1,870.079 km. The almost exact numerical correspondence indicates that the notorious “1,870 km” figure is not simply the length of Turkey’s mainland coastline. It is produced by adding the entire perimeter of every nearby island, islet and rock to the mainland total.
The Turkish cartographic fraud consists of deliberately changing the criterion halfway through the comparison: for Turkey, its authors apply distance-based radial projection and count the coastline from Marmaris to Alexandretta, while for Greece they abandon the same criterion and selectively retain only those coasts whose fronts project towards the area under consideration.
International jurisprudence, however, is not a Turkish tekke: in Romania v. Ukraine (§§99–101), the International Court of Justice treated as relevant those coasts generating overlapping maritime projections and excluded those that did not project into the relevant area; in Somalia v. Kenya (§§132–137, particularly §137), it used overlapping radial projections within 200 nautical miles.
Whichever method the Turkish charlatans invoke, they must apply it symmetrically:
(a) under the distance criterion, the relevant coastlines measure approximately 1,870 km for Turkey and 1,180 km for Greece;
(b) under the coastal-front projection criterion, they measure approximately 306 km for Turkey and 292 km for Greece.
The Turkish charlatans tailor international law to their fantasies in order to manufacture a veneer of legality for their unlawful claims.

Relevant Coasts: The Same Criterion Must Be Applied Consistently
In maritime delimitation, relevant coasts are those whose maritime projections overlap in the area under consideration. In Romania v. Ukraine, the International Court of Justice excluded the coasts of certain gulfs because they did not project into the delimitation area, while treating other coastal sectors as relevant where their projections overlapped.
In Somalia v. Kenya, the Court’s majority used overlapping radial projections within 200 nautical miles to identify the relevant coasts.
But the massive Anatolian landmass remains invisible, is that it? This massive landmass has no Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Aegean or the Mediterranean, right?
I did not say that a general rule was established; rather, despite its status as a sovereign state, the median line was shifted northward—in Libya’s favor—due to the length of its coastline!
The ICJ refers to its own jurisprudence. The Libya-Malta case and the UK-France case also serve as precedents!
Greek maximalist claims have nothing to do with the law. Furthermore, Türkiye is not a party to UNCLOS...
