Two weeks ago I pointed out the Eagles did not attempt a straight drop back pass from under center. Defenses know any time the Eagles are under center they are either running or running PA. This allows the defense to blitz without fear of getting beat by a quick pass.
3 weeks later the Eagles still have not attempted a straight drop back from under center. The Panthers have (predictably) blitzed every time the Eagles are under center. How has the coaching staff not figured this tell out yet and adjusted?

We're going to try something new at JG Media. A very different and completely on the cutting edge for local broadcasting innovation. It's for the viewers. Fox Sports, NBC Sports and ESPN can do this stuff easily. The local level, not so much.
In this video, Muhl Sports Network (MSN) play by play man Ryan "Stat Nerd" Lineaweaver, announces the latest initiative by JG Media to bring more to the viewing public.
This starts with Ryan, who is always in pursuit of knowledge and the absolutely best way to do things. In the twenty minutes before he left his house for the Muhlenberg football opener this year, Ryan put together a stat sheet program to use on his PC that would enable him to do a play by play input of all that is happening in the game. After the first game, he said to me, "Hey, you know, Jerry, I'm thinking we could throw these stats up on the JG Media website for folks to follow along in real time."
With that in mind, he has taken the last three weeks to hone and craft the stat sheet to where it's pretty, pretty darn good. He texted me yesterday and said that he thought it was ready to go for the public. So with this Friday's MSN broadcast of the Muhls and the Lebanon Cedars, we are going to attempt to have exactly that happen. The stat sheet will (hopefully) imbed into the website (jgmedia.us) seamlessly, and you will be able to follow along.
The sheet doesn't just track the current game, because Ryan has kept the sheet from the beginning, a full season picture will be presented. So both the game stats, and the season stats will be loaded.
In my mind, this is a game changer in local sports broadcast, at least OUR locality. There are several operations that broadcast high school sports in Berks and throughout PIAA District 3, but to our knowledge, none have found a way (or a concern) to do THIS. Only us, because we are looking to make the experience of our broadcasts more full, and more interactive.
If we get it to work for MSN, we will expand it to the Exeter Sports Network (ESN) as well.
This didn't happen by design, just by virtue of a guy wanting to make his job easier, and to give himself access to a season's worth of stats at his fingertips. But we are going to turn it over to the viewing audience, to make the viewing experience fuller.
Fingers crossed that we can make it work. I probably should't be announcing it ahead of time, in the case that it blows up in our faces, but what do you gain by not challenging yourself, by not setting goals? You gain nothing.
Watch this space for details on where to find the stat sheet, for which we need to come up with a great name. Perhaps a cool acronym.

That’s the way it is.
They give orders from a beach club, some other Americans die in a desert.
They make money off the government, everyone else owes more.
They get away with crimes, and the people who protest them get arrested and even killed. And on and on. The way it is.
