I think our data & politics team is among the best in the biz, & today's piece is an example why: a network map of San Francisco's interconnected, billionaire-backed groups, politicos & more. Gobs of money & a new class of donors that Lurie has brought in—explore it all below.

I resigned from Slim Chickens today. I spent the last three years doing seasoning research at both Slim Chickens and arby's. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to Four loko nuggets and gambling with our lives.
Slim Chickens is launching Dr Pepper Blasted Tenders, Tender Bites and Wings The new flavor is inspired by the soda's signature 23-flavor blend

I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the American taxpayer for their generous and apparently ongoing sponsorship of Ansar's expanding toy collection. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.

Neera Tanden: "That's a good point. I hadn't thought about it that way. Maybe I'll take another look at this socialism stuff." Don Hughes: "Glad to hear it. I guess arguing online was a good use of my time after all." Neera Tanden: "Yes."

My bad apparently this was actually the most effective political ad of all time
Here it is, the worst campaign ad I’ve ever seen, courtesy of candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier (NY-13)

The sentences handed down today are a huge threat to the possibility of a democratic society. The prosecution is rife with constitutional violations, but 30 years in prison (more than anyone for January 6) for moving some magazines? 50 years in prison even for those not involved in planning the protest? The evidence of an illegal conspiracy is non-existent, but this is how the authoritarian dragnet targets those fighting against repression. Everyone should be learning about this case. theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

Kamala Harris is like my cool aunt who in certain ways I'm closer to than my actual mom. She caught me smoking weed and shared it with me and just told me to be careful, and I came out as bi to her and not my mom. Then, our relationship became something more. It was just jokes at

We've found that our friend T-Paine passed away recently. He was both funny and had a white hot anger at war that was consistent for the 20 odd years we'd known him. It was nice to see him connect with many of you over the past few years.

However dumb you think the process for destroying USAID was, it was dumber. This is from Nicholas Enrich's new book Into the Wood Chipper, describing a meeting with Trump-appointed USAID leadership *after* they had largely gutted the agency

It is at this point unclear whether the announced departure of the US delegation from Islamabad is a negotiating tactic, or whether it represents the termination of negotiations and potentially a premature end to the two-week ceasefire agreement as well. The reason it is difficult to offer an assessment is because the US negotiators are so out of their depth, and so detached from reality, that it is entirely possible they expected negotiations would be concluded within a single session with Iran unconditionally accepting all of Washington's demands.

don't think I buy the argument there was "ambiguity" over Lebanon yesterday xitter.cf/i/status/2041665043423…
With the greatest humility, I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. I warmly welcome the sagacious gesture and extend deepest gratitude to the leadership of both the countries and invite their delegations to Islamabad on Friday, 10th April 2026, to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes. Both parties have displayed remarkable wisdom and understanding and have remained constructively engaged in furthering the cause of peace and stability. We earnestly hope, that the ‘Islamabad Talks’ succeed in achieving sustainable peace and wish to share more good news in coming days! @realDonaldTrump @JDVance @SecRubio @SteveWitkoff @SEPeaceMissions @drpezeshkian @mb_ghalibaf @araghchi
