It’s time to find compassion for boys and men.
A shift in public perspective is overdue, and progress can accelerate if women—particularly those with liberal values—champion this cause, because the future isn’t female: The future is everyone.

It’s interesting how the same post-divorce behaviors get framed so differently depending on gender. When a man divorces, starts dating a younger woman, spends money on himself and travels, people often call it a mid-life crisis, and that’s totally accepted. When a woman does essentially the same things (dating a younger man and treating herself) it’s described as her “finding herself,” “knowing her worth,” or “living her best life.” You go, girl! Suggesting she might also be going through a mid-life crisis is dismissed as misogynistic.
The double standard is unfair. If the behaviors are similar, why the different interpretations?
There are influential voices calling this generation of young men “the rapey generation” and people actually wonder why young men are disengaging from society and some are flocking to controversial influencers searching for a home. Maybe shaming and blaming young men isn’t a solution to the problems, but IS the problem.
People are using this (horrible) story to say “Abolish fraternities now!” but this young man was never initiated into the fraternity and his bid was rescinded right away when the chapter found out about this. So this is actually a case highlighting how the fraternity did the right thing and their accountability system works.
A 19-year-old man was arrested after allegedly secretly recording a sexual encounter with a University of North Carolina at Charlotte student and sending the video to a 32-member Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity group chat, police say.
Alexander Michael Evanoff faces one count of disclosing private images and two felony counts of secret peeping. During an interview with law enforcement, he allegedly admitted to intentionally recording the act and distributing it without the victim's consent. When the woman confronted him and asked if sharing the video to the group chat made him "appear cool," Evanoff "responded affirmatively" and apologized, according to the affidavit.
Evanoff is not currently enrolled at UNC Charlotte. He was released on $10,000 bond.

Ok… Well, if a man is questioning whether he can do better than his current wife, the answer is always yes. Oh. No? It doesn’t work like that? Why?
Yes, because labeling the current generation of young men “the rapey generation” is going to solve all our problems 😑 These people just keep getting more and more ridiculous and reckless with their rhetoric.

"Men don't ask for help."
I did. Again and again.
58% of male domestic abuse victims in one SafeLives survey got no help at all.
Maybe the question isn't why men don't ask. It's what happens when they do.
150k likes. People believe we don’t care about women’s health… Meanwhile, in America, we have 8 federal offices of health for women and not one for men. Women’s health has been getting more funding than men’s—globally—for decades. Women’s organizations just asked Congress for $20 billion for women’s health (they’re probably going to get it!) and we can’t even get an office of health for men. People like Katie Couric mock it as if men’s failing health is a joke. But it’s women’s health no one cares about. Ok.

Last week, the Office for National Statistics released the latest data on suicide in England and Wales, and if you were hoping for a positive outlook, I’m sorry, but it’s bleak.
Last year, we had the worst male suicide rates of this century.
This year, we’ve broken that record.
And this isn’t due to a failure of men, masculinity or a “toxic” male mindset; it’s a failure of society at a level that is simply beyond comprehension.
I really don’t understand why people reacted so much to Shane’s SNL jokes… comedians have made jokes like his for years! What would Kenan say to Dave Chappell?
If Shane Gillis were to come back to SNL, “I’m sure we would have a conversation … like a little kid” about what he could have done differently, @nbcsnl cast member @KenanThompson tells @sarafischer at #MediaTrendsLive.
The most sexist belief today is that men are inherently bad and women are inherently good. It’s been absorbed by almost everyone.
The wave of shaming and blaming men and demonizing male-only groups and spaces continues.
So original… so brave 🙄
I was just sitting in a Dublin pub next to three pretty women from London. A nice looking Irish man sitting next to them decided to chat them up. “What part of London are you from?” “Uhhhhh, the center.” The women were so cold, on their phones and giving him the cold shoulder. The guy got up and left.
I don’t blame men for not wanting to approach women today… for many reasons. Why can’t everyone be kind?
I’m all for supporting women’s health (I am a woman after all) but we currently have eight federal offices of health for women and zero for men. ZERO. Please, do SOMETHING to help men, too… Why doesn’t anyone care?
“Frats appear to have the power to take men and turn them into rapists.”
A horrible thing to print. What about the positive outcomes fraternities produce? The research on men who were in fraternities shows better outcomes later on in life: graduation, jobs, networks, friend groups, family formation, how they rate their own lives… Only focusing on the negatives that make the headlines is like throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Do you know who has the most power to turn male spaces into places where brotherhood is used to create higher standards? Our well-behaved young men.

I went into a pub in Dublin tonight and every seat was taken, so I stood by the bar. A man sitting there got up and offered me his seat. I said, “Aww, no, you sit,” and he said, “Never.” So I sat.
Men do this. They always have. They give up seats, carry heavy things, and put themselves between women and danger. I don’t understand why this is so often dismissed or ignored in conversations about gender and equality and the framing is that men have always been oppressors. That simply isn’t true.
