There is quite a bit of manual labor required to set up the large waterproof tents that The Sameer Project is able to source. chuffed.org/project/149178-s…. So can you imagine how long it takes, how many people are required, to put up 20 at a time in one area!
Here is the process of setting up just one tent in Safa Camp, the camp surrounded by a landfill, where each current shelter is not suitable to withstand rain and wind, and the water that seeps in is toxic waste and sewage from the surrounding garbage heaps. There are 20+ families immediately beneath the mounds and about 200 around the landfill. We have already started getting to work, providing families shelter before the next rain storm comes.
On November 26, we were able to purchase 55 tents thanks to your donations. After 7% commission fees the purchase came to $12,620 and will quite literally save lives this cold winter.

This month, more than 20 students messaged Catchup on Instagram asking for a free seat, and over 40 more applied through the form we open at the start of every month.
But we can only host 26 students right now. That's what our funding covers, and we can't take more than that.

It only costs $15 to provide a 1,000 liters of water, and currently The Sameer Project provides around 300,000 liters of fresh water per day. We focus our distributions to areas that aid don’t reach.
The Sameer Project has the ability to scale up and double the amount of water that we distribute but to do that we need consistent support. Giving monthly means we can predict and plan and scale up!

Gaza's dependence on humanitarian aid did not begin in October 2023. It was manufactured through nearly two decades of siege and blockade.
Before the genocide, nearly 50% of Gaza's workforce was unemployed, and 80% of the population depended on international aid. The occupation’s restrictions strangled commerce, limited economic opportunities, and prevented countless students from pursuing higher education abroad.
And every few years, another military assault destroyed homes, businesses, and infrastructure, setting back whatever progress Palestinians had struggled to make.
Today, unemployment has soared to over 80%. Palestinians do not lack the ambition, education, or determination to build their own economy. They have been systematically denied the freedom and opportunity to do so. They want to be able to provide for themselves.
Gaza does not need permanent dependence on aid. Gaza needs the freedom to thrive!! We hope to one day not be needed in this same capacity, giving our emergency assistance. But until then, support The Sameer Project’s General Fund so we can at least provide aid with dignity, respect, and the goal to return agency back to Gaza.

🚨 BREAKING: Half a million Palestinians in Gaza will lose monthly food assistance as funding shortages force major World Food Programme cuts ahead of winter, ABC News Australia reports.
➤ WFP is reducing its monthly reach from 1.6 million people to 1.1 million. Families receiving two food parcels will now get one, and flour bags will shrink.
➤ Daily hot meals have fallen from 250,000 to 150,000. Some families in hard-to-reach areas will receive meals every other day instead of daily. Cash assistance for 75,000 families is being cut by 40%.
➤ WFP’s Carl Skau said traditional donors, including the U.S. and Europe, have reduced funding. “It’s not because the needs are down … it’s only due to the lack of funding,” Skau told ABC.
➤ Around 1.4 million people face crisis-level hunger or worse, including 200,000 in emergency conditions. WFP says it urgently needs $450 million for six months of operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
