This take reeks of MCU brainrot ngl😭😭 Should the DCU have started with them making movies about the trinity (Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman) first? Absolutely. But that’s not even what you’re saying here. “Audiences are used to a certain type of universe and you aren’t making an effort to make your universe worth investing in” meanwhile Lanterns is the third most successful show in HBO history, Superman was the highest grossing superhero film of 2025 with incredible performance on digital and an overall cultural moment throughout the summer, and Clayface is amongst the most well received horror movies critically this year. Even Peacemaker landed in the top 10 Nielsen charts while Born Again is being cancelled because, according to the showrunner, nobody watched it. Supergirl didn’t flop because it wasn’t a traditional Marvel movie, but because it just wasn’t a great movie. Box office in general has already been stated by multiple sources to not be an accurate metric to judge audience engagement solely off of. This idea that the DCU has to move exactly like the MCU in order to garner audience interest is not only statistically incorrect, but it’s anti art and frankly anti DC. Those two companies were never meant to move the same even if you go all the way back to the beginning of their comic history.
