The scale of coordination of this attack is absolutely insane. From Stockholm to Palermo, whoever is behind this has shown they want to target Europe as a whole: at 21:00, 13 European countries have signaled possible cyberattacks today: 🇧🇪 Belgium 🇩🇰 Denmark 🇪🇪 Estonia 🇫🇮 Finland 🇩🇪 Germany 🇮🇪 Ireland 🇮🇹 Italy 🇱🇺 Luxembourg 🇳🇱 Netherlands 🇵🇱 Poland 🇵🇹 Portugal 🇷🇴 Romania 🇸🇪 Sweden As a reminder, under NATO and EU doctrine, a serious enough cyberattack can count as an armed attack and trigger Article 5 or the EU's mutual assistance clause. It is clear they want to test of our reaction. Got any idea who that could possibly be?
🇧🇪🇸🇪🇱🇺🇮🇪🇪🇺 Europe's food supply is under cyberattack. Overnight, hackers took control of fridges and freezers in dozens of supermarkets across Belgium, Sweden, Luxembourg and Ireland. Some were pushed to 50°C. Food had to be thrown away. Three weeks ago, hundreds of French supermarkets were hit the same way. This is what the attackers want to do: empty our shelves and disrupt our supplies. Our societies are under attack, every single day. Those denying and minimising are betraying their people. ft.com/content/2526056c-c616…

🇪🇺🇺🇸 Trump tried to bring down Poland’s government. He urged Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz to leave the governing coalition. The aim was a Polish government subordinate to Washington. Europe must stand united and defend its sovereignty. The damage Trump is doing to the transatlantic alliance will be irreparable. This is a disgrace. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…

Great write-up. We hit the same wall from the governance side: past 3-5 sessions, rules that live in prompts stop binding. Our answer: a ratified constitution enforced by harness-neutral hooks, cold-start handoffs and cross-lab adversarial review. github.com/pdewost/coding-co…

Like I‘ve been saying, Europe has been in denial over the last four and a half years that it‘s an object of the full-scale hybrid warfare by Russia amid the new Cold War between the US and the DragonBear. People have already died because of it in Black Sea. What else must happen to finally wake up?
I guess we aren't in Cold War 2.0 after all

Steve Jobs died of cancer in 2011. His son Reed is now running a VC firm with one goal: to make cancer non-lethal in his lifetime. It's called Yosemite, and it's not a normal fund: • Oncology only, which is ~40% of biotech • Grants university labs no-strings-attached money to de-risk early ideas • Builds about a third of its companies itself, with academics at places like Yale, Berkeley and Stanford • Fund 1 backed 20 companies. Fund 2 is oversubscribed, above its $350M target, with AbbVie and Amgen as partners Asked what his father would tell him today: "Stay on the path… This is a long-term play that is going to take my whole life." And the hardest part, in his words: "I'm an impatient guy… But the discipline is knowing that that is what this really takes." Patience isn't a personality trait. It's a decision you keep making.

No tenía laboratorio propio. Tenía ocho consultores a tiempo parcial, 11 laboratorios externos y a Claude coordinando contratos, logística y experimentos.

Yann LeCun and Randall Balestriero just Proved the Platonic Representation Hypothesis, and found a better way to achieve it. The Platonic Representation Hypothesis suggests that AI models trained on different modalities, like images and text, eventually learn similar representations of the world. But this paper shows that how models are trained matters more than simply scaling them up. So they mathematically show that, under certain conditions, two JEPAs trained completely separately can learn essentially the same underlying representation of the world. One learns from different images of the same scene, while the other learns from different descriptions of that scene, without ever being trained on image-text pairs. Their approach achieves the same image-text alignment with 42x fewer training samples than next-token prediction. A 109M-parameter text JEPA even outperforms LLMs up to 72B parameters on cross-modal alignment benchmarks. alphaxiv.org/abs/2610.39302

How many of them? I notice you are careful not to mention a number. Enough of them to have any possible effect? Or just enough for you to issue a press release?

It's as if my electronic wind instrument could stop me from playing along Miles Davis or John Coltrane solos while I'm (painfully) trying to learn from them. Anthropic is insane and insufferably moralizing. But we already knew that.

I think we are about to see a return of custom game engines. Building and maintaining your own engine is again viable, and the increase in velocity ditching the bloat is attractive. Epic and Unity really need to work on iteration time to succeed. When you can just build exactly what you need, precisely optimised for your project, why suffer the rest.

Alzheimer’s science and development are finally catching up to the disease. But right now, the breakthroughs are moving faster than the system built to deliver them, which means a lot of patients aren’t seeing the benefits yet. Fixing that is the next big frontier in Alzheimer’s.

Every compute platform has been defined by the games that could be built and rebuilt, by the programs could be duplicated, and by mashups of what came before. The burden of IP enforcement falls to the owner, not to the platform. Platforms can have all the rules they want but caution in over-playing this hand should dominate decision-making.
ANTHROPIC IS CRACKING DOWN ON VIDEO GAME REWRITES 🚨 Claude Code picked up a new rule around Oct 27, sent from Anthropic’s servers under a flag called "tengu_heron_brook". There’s no setting to turn it off. The full rule: “Do build original games, games in a genre, and games from the user’s own designs and assets. Don’t build a recreation of a specific existing game, even if it is renamed or called original.” Is this the end of game rewrites, modding and everything in between?

You have no idea what you are talking about. What you said about Facebook and Insta and other social networks are not targeted because they are free, means you don’t understand the basics of economy. You don’t understand the difference between Revenue and Profit. Nor what is a non-profit. You don’t understand anything about digital economy and digital business models. You don’t understand anything about security and updates. You should be ashamed of yourself.

You’re talking nonsense; the tax is capped, and in your case, it wouldn’t apply at all. Read the text of the amendment instead of just jumping into the fray along with the rest of the pack.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The amendment creates a 0.055€/GB tax on content providers' data emissions, capped at the higher of 15% of French turnover or 2% of total turnover. No exemption for non-profits like VideoLAN; fluxes measured by ISPs if the emitter is identified. politique.pappers.fr/amendement/n00… assemblee-nationale.fr/dyn/17/amendem…

Why doesn’t Kushner ask Russia to stop bombing cities? Shopping malls, hospitals, passenger trains, gas stations are all being targeted.
“Kushner told Zelensky that he should pause the strikes because he and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff were dedicating a lot of time, energy, and jet fuel to mediating with Moscow, one of the U.S. officials said. A 30-day pause on refineries would be a way for Ukraine to show gratitude, that U.S. official said.” An almost comical thing to tell a nation fighting for its existence. Lay down your weapons because we are exhausted from taking a private jet. wsj.com/world/ukraine-pauses…

This is the most insane demo I’ve seen. Subvocal YC F26 lets you speak completely silently and reads the minute movements of your face. So you can talk to your AI anytime. AI + sensors is magic. What’s crazier is they built this in 4 months. This demo was live yesterday evening at the YC office.
We’ve raised $1.3M from YC & Afore Capital so you never have to type or speak again. Typing is slow. Talking into your computer is awkward. Subvocal fixes both Our glasses give you the speed of speech without you making a sound or touching a keyboard. It tracks your internal speech muscles with non-contact sensing and decodes silent, almost invisible mouthing into text at more than 200 words/min. Pre-orders are now live at: subvocal.co/preorder?utm_sou…
