ALT March For Our Lives Statement on Voter Suppression Bills in Georgia “Georgia’s voter suppression bills are a disgraceful act of cowardice. We should call it what it is: a fearful, white supremacist attempt to cherry-pick who gets to participate in democracy, and who gets to be counted as a full citizen. Georgians of color and young voters turned out in record numbers last year despite an electoral system that for years has been rigged against us, and especially against Black Georgians. Those votes were a huge victory for democracy. The GOP sponsors of these bills want to turn that back because they know that when everyone exercises their constitutional right to vote, they can’t win. We condemn these bills, and young Georgians won’t be silenced by it. March For Our Lives also condemns State Representative Park Cannon’s arrest last week for simply knocking on Governor Kemp’s door to oppose this bill.
