Exciting time for the (future) mission to study the Sun, SOLAR-C, as our team of engineers visit NAOJ in Japan to integrate the structural thermal model of the Short Wave Camera into the telescope prior to environmental testing in December.
Former MSSL PhD student Dr Jacqueline Campbell has followed an unconventional path, from driving trains on the London Underground to searching for life on Mars, & now leading an innovative approach to understanding our climate. Here is her inspiring story: lnkd.in/p/ezbvvYD5

Happy 20th birthday to the Hinode satellite!

【News】The “Hinode-19 and SOLAR-C Science Meeting” was held at Nagoya University 🌞 Researchers from around the world gathered to review on 20 years of solar physics pioneered by Hinode and discuss the next generation of solar science that #SOLAR_C will explore.
Not long now until SMILE will be launched!
Our Smile spacecraft has arrived at @EuropeSpacePort in French Guiana.

Every year, we celebrate the winners of the Department of Space and Climate Physics Awards. This year's ceremony also highlighted support for the Anti-Bullying Week theme "Power for Good”: empowering people to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt of bullying.
MSSL’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committee promoted Anti-Bullying Week (10th -14th November 2025) with the interactive activity “The Gray Zone of Academic Ethics”, as part of Unjournal Club with tea, coffee and cake.
Our latest @MSSL_Planetary graduate Cristian Radulescu passed his PhD viva today. Thesis on 'Heavy ion distribution and influence on the Saturnian magnetosphere', using Cassini data & simulations. Many thanks to examiners David Burgess (QMUL) & Colin Forsyth. Well done Cristian!
