Say what you will about Twitter
But there's no other platform where a handful of anons and economists could have made France's arcane education spending camouflaging gigantic pensions spending ultimately go global on US talkshows

Imagine being a CEO of an US energy company and thinking that you work with close associates of the Trump family, only to find out that behind them is a sanctioned Russian company, really pulling the strings.
This happened in Alaska. Polar Train LNG's CEO, Joel Riddle, stepped down after finding out that the Russian "Novatek" company, which is under US sanctions, has been involved in a $25 billion energy project in Alaska. The CEO thought that he was working with Gentry Beach, a close friend of Donald Trump Junior.
Reportedly, that project was also discussed between Witkoff and Jared Kushner when they were with Putin. The White House admitted that the project was talked about "briefly".
We are witnessing the greatest corruption scandal the USA has ever witnessed. It all leads to Trump, his family and the Russians, and apparently they were even ready to sell riches of Alaska to the Russians.
The people in Alaska just need to look over to Russia, where the richest regions in terms of minerals and hydrocarbon resources have been stripped-mined, transferring all the wealth to Moscow and Saint Petersburg and leaving a scarred landscape in extreme poverty. That is the result of rampant corruption.
We are starting to see more details why Trump and his friends are trying so strongly to bully Ukraine into surrender. This is most certainly only the tip of the iceberg.

Elon Musk claims that Ukraine allegedly violated Starlink's terms of use and used the system on combat drones.
As someone who was inside the process at the Ministry of Defense, I can say with certainty that this is not true.
In February of this year, whitelists were introduced. Stationary terminals could be registered by both military personnel and civilians.
But for any satellite terminal to work while on the move, it had to be added to a special list and connected to the military Starshield system. Otherwise, no satellite communication terminals in Ukraine would work.
In other words, using civilian Starlink for drone missions was technically impossible. All drone missions that required satellite communication could only be carried out using Starshield.
We are very grateful to the United States and SpaceX for access to critically important satellite communications. Ukraine did not violate the terms of use.

Charles Kushner, Jared’s father, pleaded guilty to 18 counts of tax evasion and witness tampering. He hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, filmed it, sent the tape to his sister. Trump pardoned him and made him ambassador to France and Monaco.

Mélenchon: “We’ll lower the retirement age to 60.”
Le Pen: “The pension issue is trivial compared to the other deficits.”
Sorry, France.
I like you, and I’m not a doomer, but at this rate, these two will bankrupt the country competing over who can spend more on pensions.

Happy 90th Birthday Charles Goodhart. It was my honor to present at your „birthday conference“ about AI and Asymmetric Understanding - organized by @bankofengland and @LSEEcon
Goodhart‘s Law is tremendous achievement in economics but equally important in Computer Science
