Last year, I had the opportunity to interview Ed Logg, the programmer behind games like Asteroids, Centipede, Gauntlet, and many more. That interview was originally intended to be part of a straightforward career retrospective. However, over the proceeding months...

I carried the shovel, crank, and manhole key to the end just in case I wound up needing them again (I didn’t)
Sorting the stash like you're playing Escape from Tarkov😆 #SilverPines

I don’t mean to complain about AI so much, it’s just so annoying when “advancements” in technology break stuff that was working just fine. I love when new tech betters my life, but lately I’m encountering too much nonsense.

I’m a bit of a Luddite. I had a landline til 2017, I have never and never will own a smartphone. I think Spotify and the like are for fools. Still, I love finding tech that I can make work for me, to supplement what I love doing in life instead of exploiting it or making it worse

When I encounter tech that makes an easy thing harder, I feel angry. I feel like someone invented something just to profit from fomo and stupidity, and now I have to be inconvenienced by that. Just feels like some real evil shit to me, really awful trickery.

Finished the game tonight, all three endings, 98% completion. It’s good! I am a little burnt out on this type of ambiguous storytelling (I’m just longing for more grounded stories lately), but I can’t hold it against the game. It’s really well made!
Nearing the end of Silver Pines, been playing it at night on Steam Deck. Honestly, the story isn’t doing much for me, but the gameplay and exploration are extremely satisfying. Lots of good ideas in the design. I’ll likely reach for 100% of the achievements.

Before going all in on point & click, I was prototyping a similar mix of cinematic platformer and first person adventure game mechanics, just like in Silver Pines. I feel like we could have been prototyping at the same time! Very cool to see that the idea works just as I imagined

Been noticing more and more game walkthroughs that are full of AI hallucinations. Not just the AI summaries in search engines, but full on multi page walkthroughs. So much of what I used to use the internet for is now full of litter from these machines. Oh well!

Been following this game for years, very excited to play the full version!
This game is for fans of old-school shooters like Duke Nukem, Soldier of fortune, Max Payne, F.E.A.R., Serious Sam, or even Shadow Warrior.

Two great films, both are big influences on the game I’m working on
この間、デ・パルマ版の「キャリー(1976)」を久しぶりに観直したら、デ・パルマ作品を摂取したくなったので、今宵は、大好きな「ミッドナイトクロス(1981)」をBD観直す。

The AI labels on Steam are not punitive; they are informative. There is a sick parallel to be drawn here when you think about how corporate interests have played the victim and used this same tactic to battle against the labeling of additives and hormones in food products.

There are valid environmental and ideological reasons to not want to play games that rely on different types of AI. Informing players so that they can make informed choices shouldn't be a controversial move imo. A punitive action would be having Steam ban AI altogether.

This immediately makes me think of handcrafted quests in Skyrim vs the infinite radiant quests. Just having a lot of something doesn’t make it better. Maybe infinite AI dialogue is good for a Seaman revival or something, but it’s not worth the cost imo.
Replying to @TheGray53
That’s a proven approach to the genre. The question is, how does a fixed dialog game stack up against a game with infinite dialog? Better for some designs, worse than some designs. Either way, expanding the available toolbox is good in my view.

Jordan and I are getting ready to record a new episode of Yeah, I’ve Played on Hellraiser: Revival, and we’re seeking YOUR questions and comments to share in the episode! Reply here or hit us up wherever you prefer!
I continue to be impressed with Hellraiser: Revival. It's not perfect, there are some frustrating sections, but the high points are plenty and greatly outshine any blemishes. A solid survival horror experience.

I’ve always been curious about this game. Just played through the Steam demo, I really enjoyed it! The presentation is great, plenty of options, and it plays very smooth on Steam Deck. It’s a very old feeling game, but once you get the rhythm, it becomes natural.
IT'S BACK FROM THE DEAD!!! 👻 Steam Next Fest has kicked off and the free demo of Dead of the Brain, the cult classic PC-98 horror game first released in 1992, is now available! Tag us with your thoughts and playthroughs 🧟🧟‍♂️🧟‍♀️ Play Now: store.steampowered.com/app/5…
