Raphaël Glucksmann secures a landslide victory and will be the Socialist Party’s candidate in the presidential election.
The candidates were:
Glucksmann: Jewish, socially liberal, economically moderate, pro-Israel
Faure: Half Chinese, party leader, socialist, anti-Israel
Royal: Nominee form 20 years ago who now seems relatively moderate despite not changing views
Maurel: Candidate who just wanted to drop out and endorse Melenchon
Guedj: Jewish (but Sephardic, not Ashkenazi), pro-Israel and anti-woke but also very socialist
Other interesting factoids about Glucksmann:
His grandfather was a famous Soviet spy. His parents are both famous Marxist academics who later became anti-Marxist. His father endorsed Sarkozy in 2007.
Glucksmann was previously married to a woman who served as Deputy Foreign Minister in both Georgia and Ukraine following their Color Revolutions. Now he's married a Greek Catholic Lebanese news anchor who is daughter of Lebanon's current Culture Minister
