BREAKING: US embassy staff and their families have been ordered to leave Saudi Arabia, according to AFP report.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
US officials say AFP report cited (which also claimed orders for other Gulf countries) is inaccurate; only non-emergency US government employees/families in Saudi Arabia per State Dept. These UN experts are really not on the UN staff. The have merely a UN stamp and speak for themselves. They are activists in their own right with their political and social prejudices. This is the explanation the UNHRC gives: “Special Rapporteurs/Special Procedures experts work on a voluntary basis; they are not UN staff and do not receive a salary for their work. While the UN Human Rights office acts as the secretariat for Special Procedures, the experts serve in their individual capacity and are independent from any government or organization, including OHCHR and the UN. Any views or opinions presented are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of the UN or OHCHR.” This is serious flaw in the working of the OHCHR. These activists speak for themselves but create the impression that that speak for the UN.

India just flew a solar-powered aircraft to the edge of space — and kept it there. A HAPS (High-Altitude Platform) demonstrator flew at ~12 km over Pokhran. The goal: pseudo-satellites that stay aloft for 30–45 DAYS on sunlight alone, watching borders & relaying signals — at a fraction of a satellite's cost. A spy satellite you can't shoot down easily, launch cheaply, and land to reuse. That's the idea. The future of surveillance may not orbit. It may just… hover. #MakeInIndia

Russian Sukhoi Su-30SM fighter jet crashed near the town of Chernyakhovsk located in Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast on Wednesday afternoon. According to reports, the two crew-members managed to eject before the plane impacted the ground. They were later transferred to a medical facility with some wounds. Presumably, the airframe belonged to the 4th Guards Naval Assault Aviation Regiment of the Baltic Fleet, with home-base at the nearby Chernyakhovsk Air Base. (Su-30 photo is for illustration purposes only and might not represent the actual airframe lost in the accident)

Reporter: Can Indian companies refine more Venezuelan crude oil? Marco Rubio: They can. We will be talking to Reliance about this tomorrow. They have the capability to refine heavy crude. India is a refining superpower. They already have oil concessions in Venezuela.

A FULL CIRCLE. A SALUTE TO THE LEGACY. Today, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, undertakes his last sortie in the Indian Air Force, alongside his first flying instructor, Wg Cdr V S Kochar (Retd), in the same HJT-16 Kiran aircraft in which his flying journey began on 28 January 1984. At Air Force Academy, Dundigal, the years come full circle in a moment that celebrates a lifetime of service, an enduring passion for flying and the timeless bond between a pilot and his instructor. It is also a heartfelt tribute to the veterans and mentors who have shaped generations of air warriors and continue to inspire those who follow. From the first lesson to the final sortie in uniform, a legacy takes flight. #IndianAirForce #AirForceAcademy #legacy #passion #tribute @DefenceMinIndia @SpokespersonMoD @HQ_IDS_India @adgpi @indiannavy @CareerinIAF @air_veterans

OSINT: Two US Navy Carrier Strike Groups led by USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77) and USS George Washington (CVN-73), alongside the USS Boxer Amphibious Ready Group (11th MEU), are now concentrated in the Arabian Sea near Pakistan's maritime approaches. The forward posture near the Gulf of Oman and Gwadar triggered widespread claims of US naval operations staging from Pakistani waters against Iran, forcing Islamabad to issue an official denial on Oct 18.

During Op Sindoor, Pakistan realized that there was considerable space between the upper limit of conventional ground based contact war and lower limits of the nuclear threshold. A huge void surfaced in the conventional non contact kinetic domain, in which Pakistan had no capability to either defend or carry out any offensive operations. India exploited this space with the Brahmos much to the embarrassment of Pakistan by plastering 11 airfields. Creation of the Army Rocket Force Command equipped with missiles retrofitted with conventional warheads seeks to plug this gap to regain balance. Pakistan aims not only to close this gap but use this new capability to threaten to lower the nuclear threshold. However what is to be noted is that by creating this force, Pakistan has tacitly indicated that it cannot cross the nuclear threshold with its customary display of irrationality. India will have to focus on neutralizing this newfound capability of Pakistan through defensive and offensive means. Read more at: timesofindia.indiatimes.com/…

“We may not have agreed with all her judgments or positions. That should not diminish our respect for her courage, independence and achievements.” Should we paper over so lightly her record of repeatedly targeting India on human rights during her career. She never condemned as UNHCR High Commissioner Pakistan sponsored terrorism against India. Much worse, she did not condemn Pakistan for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Her personal rhetoric on the attack was condemnable. Instead of pointing to external state sponsorship or naming Pakistan, she said this: "Whenever there is an act of terrorism, one points fingers at neighbouring countries, thereby absolving oneself of all responsibility... Terrorists need not be from outside; they can be home grown. When you accuse others, you fail to take steps to correct the problem at home." She not only gave a pass to Pakistan, she insinuated this terrorist attack had local origins. What is the case for rejoicing in her Nobel Peace Prize?
Warm congratulations to Navi Pillay, the first woman of Indian origin to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Her extraordinary life story belongs to the many-storied, often heroic history of Indian migration: oceans traversed , hardships endured, discrimination confronted and new homelands served with honesty and distinction. Her Indian inheritance and her South African experience meet in a life devoted to human dignity. Were Gandhiji alive, I believe he would have recognised something deeply familiar in that journey: the struggle against injustice in South Africa becoming a commitment to justice everywhere. We may not have agreed with all her judgments or positions. That should not diminish our respect for her courage, independence and achievements. She is as much a daughter of India as she is of South Africa. Our national pride should be accommodating enough to embrace her independent conscience.

You are misinformed. UNMOGP has no role on the Indian side. They can’t enter J&K. They have a small liaison office in Delhi which we ignore. We have not expelled them because they are irrelevant. China attacked us in 1962. Russian veto ended that mischievous move in the UNSC. Even so, by your date line, for 64 years the UN ignored the Kashmir issue., till 2019 when a mischievous attempt by China fizzled out. The UNGA hasn’t passed any resolution on J&K. As for the OIC, which is an Islamic club no one now bothers about, ask yourself why Turkey plays such an active anti- Indian role in it. You took the chairmanship of the OIC contact group on Kashmir. Beyond all this, in the Simla Agreement of 1972, Pakistan agreed that the Kashmir issue will be addressed bilaterally by the two countries. The irrelevance of the OIC is exposed on the Palestine issue, recalling it was set up after the Al Aqsa incident. Gaza has been destroyed and the West Bank is under more and more duress. Key OIC countries have now diplomatic ties with Israel. As ambassador to Turkey I knew Kandemir,,Ozceri and Sanberk very well. Gentlemen. Constructive. Very friendly towards India. You seem to be influenced by the dilution of secularism in Turkey and have imbibed Islamism under Erdogan. Incidentally, I was the equivalent of the Undersecretary in your system.
@KanwalSibal

Turkey wants to sell weapons to Pakistan pure business nothing else
There are 193 UN members. No one else is bothered. What is Turkey’s compulsion? Other Islamic countries don’t raise this issue of India’s sovereignty either. Turkey seems to take its Islamic vocation very earnestly. Turkey’s record of bombing and persecuting the Kurds is atrocious . Now you are illegally occupying parts of Syria too. The Kashmir issue was last raised in the UNSC in 1957. For 62 years it wasn’t raised until in 2019 Pakistan with China’s support raised it after India abrogated Art 370. It was a closed door meeting and no statement was issued. Proved a damp squib. As a former diplomat you would ne expected to be better informed. We are aware that Turkey is today a big hub of anti- Indian propaganda in league with Pakistan.
