For the umpteenth time, I've tried and failed to see how any Tom, Dick and Harry being able to purchase semi-automatic weapons and tote them round the place contributes to the maintenance of "a well-regulated militia" or "the security of a free State", per the Second Amendment.
Haha, love the jar of #gherkins on the floor.
Andy Burnham’s government talks up change, but then does nothing. Britain’s budget epitomised the inadequacy of his approach to government bit.ly/4icsFAi
A friend asked me about last night's League Cup game. How is it that after 2½ trophy wins in the last two seasons, and despite actually winning yesterday, my default position is still that I don't really want to talk about Palace? #cpfc

On the basis of the numbers the Chancellor just read out in the House, the UK is set to borrow MORE in each of the next five years than previously planned
Right, so I'm getting £100 towards my energy bills but I've got to go out and spend it on a battery-powered radio and tariff-free gherkins. Is that right? #Budget2026 #NannyFuckingState
I'm a mite surprised, @bbcsport, that the list here doesn't include non-League Macclesfield knocking then-holders Crystal Palace out of the FA Cup in January! bbc.co.uk/sport/football/art…

Owen Jones has, for the last three years, revealed himself to be a man of enormous courage, integrity and truthfulness. No one should think for a minute that his relentless defence of Palestinian rights and historical truth is easy or comes without heavy personal costs. Throughout the genocide in Gaza, Jones remained a tireless bur rigorous and supremely decent voice. I suspect part of what initially moved him was the strong displeasure in being treated like an idiot by the official propaganda – a noble motive in itself – but there is no question he has been genuinely touched by the images of suffering arriving daily from Gaza. And yet, how does his intellectual fixation on a battle between left and right help us understand the horrors of Gaza, or move us to stop them? My impression is that the opposite has happened. People look at what is happening in Gaza and ask themselves what a person on the right or on the left should think. In many cases this is ideology. In most, simply careerism and group association. Jones shows how limited the perspective really is. How about, like the author himself, asking how a human being should feel? How about returning to the world of facts and feelings rather than our endless Marvel franchise? newstatesman.com/culture/boo…
It's tempting to laugh at how way off Champions League standard Manchester United are, but given Palace's recent performances and likely fate against Beşiktaş tomorrow evening, it would appear to be inviting disaster.
OK, since when did Sudafed not have pseudoephedrine in it? And wtf is phenylephrine, which has replaced it as an active ingredient? I suspect the answer is 'placebo', in which case why am I not just buying basic paracetamol for 50p a box or whatever?

Spezia have released a 120-year anniversary shirt - inspired by the original colours of Crystal Palace. 👕
The Serie C side were founded in 1906 by Swiss banker Hermann Hurni, who played for the early Palace amateur teams during his time as a student in London. 🤝

I see that Russia and Iran played a friendly football match today. Congratulations to Russia on their 2–0 victory. I wonder if any of the Iranian players were wearing black armbands in protest at Russia's war on Ukraine, or the Russians at Iran's human rights record?
This is what we want to see. Café in Malta (Rabat) #cpfc
Well, if nothing else, we can firmly put to bed the notion that the performance against Argentina cost England the – World Cup. Spain are just better than us, and mercifully were better than Argentina too. #ENGESP
Sweet Jesus, this is a truly dreadful game of football. #NFOCOV
Yeah? Let's see if they can get past Villa at home tomorrow before they start thinking about Real and Barça, eh?
Tottenham would be in “a three-horse race” for the La Liga title with Real Madrid and Barcelona if they played in Spain, according to Jamie O’Hara...
