Since this morning, I have been following the Israeli elections, searching for even the faintest glimmer of hope that we might finally witness the downfall of Netanyahu, the butcher of the 21st century, and perhaps one day see him stand trial for the death, destruction, and suffering he has inflicted on us Palestinians, which we continue to endure to this day. But a short while ago, I came across posts from several well-known accounts saying they actually hope Netanyahu wins and remains in power, so that his continued rule can serve as proof to the world that Israel is a murderous, criminal state! Do you realize the depths of moral depravity behind such an idea? These despicable people, and I make no apology for calling them that, are effectively wishing for Netanyahu to continue killing our children, starving our people, displacing our families, and humiliating our women and the elderly for at least another four years, just so they can prove they were right! Imagine the suffering of those of us who live through this hell every single day being reduced to nothing more than a tool for validating the theories of people sitting comfortably behind their screens! They want the massacres to continue, more children to die, and entire families to be wiped out, simply because it lends credibility to their political beliefs and allows them to feel vindicated. What kind of moral sickness is this? How can there be people among us willing to see another hundred thousand human beings die rather than have their theories about the world fall apart? In my eyes, these people share something morally terrifying with criminals like Netanyahu and Hitler: a willingness to sacrifice tens of thousands of human lives to achieve their goals. Their methods, objectives, and the scale of their crimes may be different, but what unites them is the belief that human lives are an acceptable price to pay for getting what they want. One justifies the killing of innocent people in the name of his political project. The other hopes it continues so he can prove his theory right. In both cases, our deaths become acceptable as long as they serve someone else’s ideas! I do not want more children to die before the world finally recognizes Netanyahu as a criminal. And I do not want my family to endure another four years of fear, hunger, and bombardment just so someone can proudly say, “See? I told you I was right!” We are not evidence in your political arguments, and the bodies of our children are not tools for proving your theories. We are human beings who want to live, even if our survival deprives you of the satisfaction of proving that you were right! #SurvivalTestimony #IsraelElections
