💡Last week, we heard 12 proposals about the future of transport policy. Participants had just five minutes to convince the Committee to use their ideas in our future programme. Here's how it went.

One more followup. This paper from @Yugabyte explains how a core banking vendor, Temenos, splits the OLTP from OLAP to achieve cloud scale benchmarks blog.yugabyte.com/yugabytedb… NB not the same database technology for each requirement.

Nobody will remember: - Your salary - Your fancy title - How ‘busy’ you were - How many hours you worked Everyone will remember: - That you were the on-call - That you applied your SQL fix directly to the prod DB - That you forgot the WHERE clause on your UPDATE

Most crucial machine learning lesson I've learned: A better algorithm may improve your model's performance, but a better dataset will double it. Data matters most.

When I was a data analyst, I mostly did data science. When I was a data scientist, I mostly did data engineering. Now I'm a data engineer, and I'm mostly doing devops. 🤷

Bit confused how you know you need dbt? Some options: - dbt core project: setup for free + you setup cloud & airflow - dbt cloud: subscription fee based on run time (still need cloud + airflow to join it all up) - we @MatatikaBytes run imports + dbt w/ @meltanodata project – at Berkhamsted, England

No company ever has a “dataset” for you to come and work with. 99.99% of the companies have a problem to solve and absolutely no idea what data they need to solve it. Not only there’s no “dataset”, but it’s your job to decide what data should be part of it in the first place.

Your job as a data analyst is to solve problems, not make dashboards.
