No, weโ€™re not gonna coddle grown ass people . My voting station has always been Nelspruit but I changed it in less than 5 minutes coz I live in Joburg now and this was months ago ! Lea tena lena
Kwasuka lokho, and she is likely not the only individual experiencing this issue. These are local elections meant to address the needs of residents within their own municipalities. Requiring her to vote in a different city for a mayor who will not represent her interests raises serious concerns about the effectiveness and fairness of the electoral process the IEC administers! @IECSouthAfrica, shame on you!

This right here is how many of us who were raised in the ANC feel. Fuck ANC.
Fully agree, and I'll own it. I'm very much an ANC beneficiary. BEE made it possible for the state to pay for my studies. After I qualified, it opened the door to a managerial role. I am where I am today because of policies the ANC put in place. But make no mistake, that will not make me loyal to a party that today does not put South Africans first. Gratitude for what was done yesterday doesn't excuse what's being done today. The best way to honour what we were given is to hold the people in power to the same standard that got us here. That's why I'm voting with my head, not my history.

No, Sibadala Local government elections are not the same as national and provincial. You're voting for a councillor in your ward, so you can only vote where you're registered. That's how it works. The IEC told us over and over to check. They sent SMSs, put ads on radio and TV, and you could check on the website or just SMS your ID number. It takes two minutes. Maybe some people's details were captured wrong, I won't deny that can happen. But that's exactly why we were told to check early, so it could be fixed before today. So no, I can't excuse an adult who didn't bother to check where they're registered and now wants to blame the IEC. Take accountability. Next time, check early.

โ€œHe rapes, but he saves.โ€ He violates, but he delivers. Apparently, as long as thereโ€™s something to benefit from, accountability is negotiable.
You are all BENEFICIARIES of ANC POLICIES!

Donโ€™t think calling someone an ANC beneficiary is a โ€œgotchaโ€ moment or an insult. EVERY SOUTH AFRICAN is a beneficiary of the ANC. We are standing in lines today to vote because of them (and others). Reflect on that. THIS DOES NOT MEAN IM VOTING ANC!

For National and Provincial Elections only.
For those who have already voted, were you allowed to vote at a different voting station from the one you registered at? ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ

It is regrettable that South African policies led to the termination of AGOA for South Africa. This was a predictable and preventable outcome resulting from the rejection by South Africa's government of real concerns raised by the U.S. Government. I remain hopeful that we can find a path forward to address our larger bilateral concerns, but the South African government must understand the gravity of the situation. We know that if America succeeds, so too will South Africa. This is the partnership I will continue to pursue as expeditiously as possible. ustr.gov/about/policy-officeโ€ฆ

Let's be clear: immigration policy sits with national government. Nobody's disputing that. But pretending local government has nothing to do with it is a convenient way to let councillors off the hook. Who enforces trading by-laws? Council. Who licenses spaza shops and sends health inspectors? Council. Who lets buildings get hijacked and does nothing? Council. Who decides whether metro police actually work with Home Affairs or look the other way? Council. The effects of illegal immigration aren't felt in Parliament. They're felt in our townships, our CBDs and our communities, and that's exactly where councillors are supposed to be doing their jobs. So yes, we will hold them accountable for implementation. And don't underestimate what happens on 4 November. Every party in Parliament will be reading these results. If South Africans vote on this issue, that's a clear message for 2029: get serious about the law, or get out of office. This isn't about hating anyone. It's about enforcing the laws we already have and demanding that the people we elect actually do their jobs.
Chillers, the elections kick off tomorrow! ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Tonight, weโ€™re hanging out with community leaders and political representatives to unpack how immigration issues have taken centre stage ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections. ๐Ÿ“บ Join us LIVE on YouTube at 17:00. Donโ€™t miss it!
