I'm in complete shock and disbelief. A tremendously talented and kind coworker who I always had great conversations with and learned from. Sending so much love to his family. He was a giant. A titan in our industry.

petition to open source Arc!!
We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026.
That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community.
Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet today’s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward.
We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how:
· Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly.
· Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact.
· Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security.
· The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional.
Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.

whilst i’d love to get the iPhone Duo, i’m not going to
i would miss FaceID a lot
i wear gloves in the winter so TouchID would be an issue😅
i need the telephoto camera of the Pro’s
i need the faster charging and better thermals of the 18pm
i feel like the folding novelty would wear off for me personally
maybe next years

.@BarackObama: Trump should be on HGTV. He's building a ballroom, paved over the Rose Garden, put a helicopter pad on the South Lawn, and what's up with the gold? He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened up a Cheesecake Factory!

Third-party app optimization is understandable, but Apple failing to optimize its own apps is unacceptable. It should work out of the box.

iPhone Duo is really cool but from what I've seen, this software should never have shipped to consumers. and I'm not even talking about the app support!

i'm sorry, but all i see is incongruency. even with "optimized" apps. flat edge on one side, not on the other, empty space on the right, not the left, smaller dock icons, lack of intuitive alignment (illustrated by these red vertical lines), etc. i'm not sure there could be an argument made that android pholdables lap the duo in terms of congruence and consistency?
design wise i have never been more uninspired by anything apple has released in the last 20 years.
it’s not just the 'apps aren’t adapted yet' problem (and the irony is that in most cases the apps that haven’t been adapted look better than the ones that have) or the usual first iteration issues. it’s a series of fundamentally weird design choices that make it impossible to even come up with nice layouts. there are screens where nothing aligns with anything, buttons floating around randomly. forget about symmetry. like, forever. it’s not even a concept anymore.
not a single screen on the main display has made me think, 'oh, that looks neat' (or balanced, or at least makes sense from an IA perspective). everything is just...random.
but yeah, a nice opening animation (that you barely ever actually see), a cool combo status bar (that most of the time just sits there all alone, taking up 1/5 of the screen’s width), and a nice click when opening or closing it (no comments here, the click is actually nice).
I was wrong, Apple is DUMB.
This was a flag to run an A/B test for the onboarding, which I replied to, and will see how that goes.
Apple, either get smart on being able to enable those config yourself, create a process where you ask the developer to somehow show it to you upfront, or stop checking for it.
