We’ve got the BEST coaches in the state! Middle of August. Busy schedules. 75+ kids in the gym. And this crew showed up for three straight days ready to COACH, compete, laugh and pour everything they had into the next generation of hoopers. That’s what makes OTP special. Great programs are built by great people and we’re incredibly thankful for every coach who gave their time and energy to make our first OTP Youth Camp such an awesome experience. 75+ kids. 3 days. A packed gym. A TON of energy. 🔥 Couldn’t ask for a better crew. 💗💗💗🩵🩵🩵 slat_eranthony Family stands strong and stands on business!!! 🔥

It’s not easy to play for winning coaches. They’ll hold you accountable, push you beyond your comfort zone, demand excellence, and expect you to respond when things get hard. There will be days when you’re frustrated, uncomfortable, and challenged. But for the athletes who are willing to embrace it, it’s worth it. Winning programs aren’t built by avoiding adversity - they’re built by learning how to overcome it.

Can a bad shot be more damaging than a turnover? Bad shot -> poor floor balance -> defensive rebound -> transition opportunity -> bucket. At least after some turnovers, your defense gets set. Full Read : jacksondavisttu.substack.com…

6-foot-2030 Payton Brautigam had a big showing on the New Balance circuit, where she helped lead her squad to a third-place finish in the 15U division. Payton has a high motor and is a relentless competitor.

From 4 teams to 18 teams in ONE year. 😭 What an incredible spring and summer for OTP. A true basketball pipeline stretching from Southern Washington to Southern Oregon, with athletes representing communities across the entire state. Youth championships. HS regional championships. National Top-5 finishes. Competing on the biggest stages in grassroots basketball and putting our athletes in front of college coaches from every level. And maybe the number we’re most proud of: 1 athlete with a college scholarship offer became 12 and we’re just scratching the surface. 🔥 As Oregon’s only National Shoe Circuit program, we’re building something special — developing young athletes, creating opportunities and giving Oregon basketball a pathway to compete and be seen at the highest level. None of this happens without the players who compete, the families who believe, the coaches who invest in them and the sponsors who help make it possible. 🙏 What a year… THIS IS OTP. 🩷🩵

“One thing I’ll do is I’ll stalk the sideline.” Why? He’s looking for it. Bad body language. Poor attitude. Wrong mindset. Because what happens on the sideline matters. You better be coaching all of it. Curt Cignetti GOLD.🥇 xitter.cf/HoosiersConnect/status…

Geno Auriemma says the hardest part of coaching isn’t winning games but instead dealing with parents who believe their child should play 35 minutes every game “My job is hard. It’s hard because, in the world that we live in today, parents are so delusional. Every one of them thinks their kid is better than Maya, better than Stewie, better than Paige, better than anybody.” “They think they should play 35 minutes every single game. These kids are under so much pressure that if they don’t live up to that, they’re not having any fun.” “What makes my job hard is trying to make sure these kids all understand that it can be a lot of fun, but everything has to be in perspective.” “Sometimes the hardest part of my job is that we’ve all kind of lost perspective of how all this works and what it means.” “Winning games and all that stuff, that’s not hard. It’s the other stuff that’s hard.”

What am I evaluating during live period? How do you respond to correction? How do you communicate with your coaches, teammates, the officials, etc? Are you a culture kid? Will you “fit” with my team? Stats don’t tell the whole story. We want the intangibles, too!

Parents‼️‼️ As college coaches are watching this weekend, here are some big DON'TS: ❌ Coaching your athlete from the sidelines after every play.
❌ Arguing with referees or tournament staff.
❌ Complaining about playing time, coaches, or teammates in the stands. ❌ Being overly loud or drawing attention to yourself in a negative manner during games.
❌ Showing negative body language when things don't go your athlete's way.
❌ Putting extra pressure on your athlete between games.
❌ Sitting in the college coaches' seating area or taking a coach's seat just to spark a conversation.
❌ Forgetting that college coaches are paying attention to families too. Remember, your athlete should be the one getting the attention this weekend, not your behavior. Be supportive, be respectful, and let them enjoy the opportunity they've worked so hard to earn!

The redshirt is dead — and most programs aren’t ready for what that means. Every scholarship now starts a 5-year clock the moment a kid enrolls or turns 19. No extensions. No medical freezes. That changes recruiting, roster building, and player development in one stroke. Birthday math is now part of every offer conversation. A kid who turns 19 before he steps on campus has already burned time. Coaches who ignore that will regret it. The portal gets leaner but more expensive. Fewer players with extra eligibility means a smaller pool — and the ones in it will cost more. The programs that win this era won’t be the ones with the most NIL money. They’ll be the ones who evaluate 17-year-olds better than everyone else and stop hiding developmental needs behind a redshirt year. The margin for error just got really small. @jrichardgoodman @VinnysCorner1 @SergeantMartee @BeholdPaleH0rse #portal #NCAA @latsondheimer @KasselMedia #recruits #eligibility #hssports #coaches #coach
BREAKING: The NCAA is officially adopting the age-based eligibility structure, giving players 5 years to play 5 seasons from either when they enroll or from the season they turn 19 (whichever comes first). The Division I cabinet was unanimous in their vote for the new model.
