The incredible team that elected North Carolina’s first Democratic senator since 2008 … and by 20 points too 💙

Hey in case anyone's waffling here. Keep Mike Rogers far, far away from the US Senate.
To put in perspective of how seismic this finale was at the time, Paramount chose to end Star Trek: The Next Generation at its height of popularity.
By the seventh season, most stations that ran the show had it on twice a day at least six days a week. Some stations ran it seven days a week, until Deep Space Nine began (which then took one of the days).
My station ran it every day at 5:00pm and 11:00pm, with the earlier slot being more recent episodes and the later being earlier seasons. Saturday was new episodes at 7:00pm and a repeat of the previous week's episode at 11:30pm (Sunday was DS9).
All Good Things... was the end of new episodes and while DS9 was amazing; TNG coming to an end was a very big deal in 1994 even with movies on the way. A lot of people didn't understand why they ended it when it was so popular, but the seven season run because the standard that DS9 and Voyager then followed.

Jean-Luc Picard remains the single most compelling vision of progressive politics I am familiar with — secular, rational, compassionate, egalitarian; a believer in progress & abundance but also duty, hard work, and a constant battle for self-improvement and improving the world.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

Tom Steyer spent $215 million running for governor and another $342 million running for president. That’s more than half a billion dollars on his own campaigns.
Mike Bloomberg just committed $80 million to help Democrats win the House and Senate. It’s time for other progressive Democratic billionaires, including Steyer, to step up and do the same.

Very much appreciated @Stefany4NH’s answer on how she would bring back more money to New Hampshire and get more money in people’s pockets! Ending wars, Medicare for All, addressing the housing crisis — all great goals, and I’m excited to support her every step of the way!

Former Congresswoman @TeamSheaPorter knows what it takes to bring about the change New Hampshire families need, and I am honored to have her support.
We have to fight for bold action to make life better for New Hampshire families. My campaign is of, by and for the Granite State, and like Carol Shea-Porter, I will always fight for the people of New Hampshire. #NHPolitics

For years, alarms have woken me up at night to warn that my daughter Elle’s life is in danger.
I know what it feels like to live with the fear that comes when your child’s life is in danger. I know that health care is life or death.
I’ve taken on the insurance companies to fight for Elle. And I’m ready to take on Donald Trump, RFK Jr., and the insurance companies now to fight for you. #NHPolitics

To everyone so eager to cancel someone for a tattoo they got at age 22, a drunk text, a selfie they took in the middle of a mental health crisis:
Show us your laptop.
Show us your iCloud.
Open your entire digital life to your worst enemy. No context. No filter. No explanation.
You won’t.
You won’t because you know what I know. Any one of us, frozen at our worst moment, photographed in our lowest hour, looks like a monster. Looks like a stranger. Looks like someone who deserves to be cast out.
That is not who we are.
My mom and baby sister were killed in a car accident when I was just a kid. Cancer took my brother Beau, my best friend and my rock. I battled alcoholism. I battled addiction. I chose the coward’s way out more times than I can count.
For years I believed the defining chapters of my life were written by tragedy, loss, and shame.
I no longer believe that.
Pain can shape us. Loss can humble us. Failures can leave scars that never fully fade. But none of them have the authority to define us.
And it sure as hell ain’t the critic that counts.
That authority belongs to us alone-the person in the arena.
Every setback presents a choice. Play the victim, or cut the bullshit and take ownership for who we become next.
Life does not determine our character. It reveals it.
Again and again we are asked the same question. When shit happens, what next?
We are not defined by what happened to us. We are not defined by the worst photo, the worst text, the worst tattoo, the worst night. We are defined by the person we choose to become. And by the courage to choose that person, every single day.
So before you reach for the gavel - show us your laptop.
You won’t.
The whole world saw mine. And I am still here. Still becoming. Still choosing. Still standing.
That is the only definition that matters.
