I have just published a piece that is very important to me. It's about why so many "progressives" and people on "the left" are lying to us right now about crime, safety, and repression, and what we should be doing instead. equalityalec.substack.com/p/…

Nobody made this criticism of Harris. Wonder why?
A lot of people are protesting this post by saying "Abdul is a real talent, it's just that his own party is fighting him" Guys, I hate to break the bad news, but if you can't consolidate your own party's support you're not actually a major political talent.

Now chart against educational attainment, life span, infant mortality rates, and HDI. Will show what freedom is worth.
Cool new report from @CatoInstitute with an updated methodology on freedom for US states. Only two states get an overall "A" grade: Arizona and Montana (both gets A's in personal freedom, B's in econ freedom) Only governor with an "A" grade overall: @GovGianforte!

Not only did Split Ticket do horrible and motivated statistics to produce an ideologically favorable WAR model, but they spread their idiocy so far that random voters are talking about manipulating WAR for future ideological battles.
#MichiganSenate Undecided voter in Michigan says he is voting for Mike Rogers because he doesn’t want Abdul El-Sayed to win by a lot “I have this hope that the outcome in Michigan will be that Benson wins by eight points, El-Sayed wins by two or three, and perhaps the future of the Democratic Party won't go down the tubes the way it did for the Republicans.”

If I had to pick a worse dem candidate for Maine than Mills, it would be Jared Golden. These people are obsessed with picking candidates that, even if you win, you still lose because they hate you and will not do your politics.
Replying to @ettingermentum
I’m not sure I blame him for Mills. Once Jared Golden bowed out I don’t think he had any good options in Maine.

yeah, this is an example of how people who talk about politics for a living map their own conceptualization of ideology onto all voters. this is problematic and leads to all sorts of bad takes and strategy gelliottmorris.com/p/the-str…
Good thread but I don't find this one convincing. Decent argument to be made that ideology isn't measuring the same thing across racial/ethnic groups. If the claim is that a candidate like Buttigieg would shift black conservatives voting behvaior signficantly, I'm skeptical.

Somehow, in certain quarters, it has come to be seen as a personal failing to devote one’s life to improving the world around you. It isn’t “downwardly mobile” to choose, after college, to be a teacher, a city councilor or an artist. It’s just a different kind of ambition.

Those saying this reveal total ignorance of French history and austerity. Austerity programs often fail to cut costs, arguably because they aren't intended to. They do make life worse for the poor, which is manifestly visible in France.
France has government spending at 57% of GDP and runs an over 5% of GDP budget deficit. This isn't a country being deprived by neoliberal austerity.

The last 30 years of french history have been defined by neoliberal, pro-austerity governments winning power by defeating an anti-austerity left. Macron has done his very best to create the outcomes we're seeing, but because of one number these people can pretend he's communist.

“Un violento anhelo de felicidad” Fue la mejor pancarta que vi en la manif de hoy.
Hoy estuvimos marchando junto a los estudiantes de liceo que han llenado las calles con demandas legítimas frente al gobierno de Macron. Como es costumbre en Francia, la violencia policiaca y respirar gas lacrimógeno por las demandas más esenciales se hizo presente

It's still way cheaper to make your own food even if every meal is delicious and varied than it is to eat out unless, ironically, you're ok with eating the same cheap premade meal from like a grocery store every day
I agree with this. The people who keep screaming that it’s “cheaper” eat the same depressing, boring food, day after day. I’m not making chicken and rice and sandwiches and stew for weeks on end. Sure, that would be “cheaper” in the long run. But you’re eating like a dog.

And even then you could make the same pre-made meals in bulk for less.
