This was actually the Indian National Congress' goal (cf. 1931 Karachi Resolution, 1955 Avadi Resolution, etc.). It was the undivided CPI which supported the Idea of Pakistan and legitimized the Muslim League because Communist leaders like Gangadhar Adhikari believed that India was not a single nation but rather a collection of nations with distinct cultural/linguistic nationalities (Punjabis, Bengalis, etc.). There is no point in retreading old ground nearly 80 years after partition. What has changed since then? • The Muslim percent share in the subcontinent has risen from less than 25% to around 35% • The Hindu population share in East Pakistan (modern-day Bangladesh) fell from 28% in 1941 to roughly 7.95% by 2022 • 100,000-150,000 Kashmiri Hindus were forced to flee the Kashmir Valley due to violence, intimidation, and assassinations by Pakistan-backed Islamist militants. Is this a cruel joke? What incentives do Hindus have to join such a union?
