I was shocked (and honored) to receive a medal from Mayor Gettel at tonight’s Disaster Response Ceremony!
I showed up to offer my thanks and praise to the firefighters and the rest of our community. I was shocked when the mayor started to talk about #DisasterMan! He invited me to come up, offered me a medal, shook my hand, and promoted me to #HeroMan.
He had no idea that I woke up today, and for the first time in a very long time, thought to myself “things are going to start going my way today.”
Thank you @MayorDustinG! And thank you Midvale community. You are heroes.

Well that’s one way to finish our final 24 hour shift in California. We’re preparing to clean up and demobilize, anticipating a Sunday arrival home.

Yesterday, January 22, 2025, the Midvale City Youth Council proudly represented our city at Local Officials Day at the Capitol, hosted by the Utah League of Cities and Towns. This inspiring event allowed our young leaders to connect with state officials, learn about legislative processes, and make their voices heard on issues that matter to them.
During the event’s mock debate, our Youth Council presented a Zero Waste proposal, showcasing their innovative ideas for a more sustainable future. Their thoughtful contributions demonstrated their commitment to creating a cleaner, greener community for all.
