NLCS MVP Jake Bauers shares how letting go of results helped him find a different level of freedom as a competitor.
"I think what changed for me this year was I stopped caring about results. I started caring about competing. I started caring about being in the moment and getting out of my own way."
Sometimes, the biggest obstacle to performing at your best isn't a lack of preparation or ability.
It's the pressure you place on yourself to produce a particular outcome.
You become so concerned with what you want to happen that you lose touch with what the moment actually requires.
Any performer can unlock a new level when they learn how to be fully invested in the competition without becoming imprisoned by the outcome.

NEW: UCLA head coach Bob Chesney on his goals for the 2026 season and whether they've changed:
"Goals are for people that want to win once. Process and standards are for people that want to win longterm."

This was one of my favorite moments of the season... Not just because of Daniel's homerun. But, because of his interaction with Jose after hitting it. It came at a time when Josey wasn't hitting like his "Josey Self". And yet... he never seemed panicked or stressed and no matter what, he always took time to build up his teammates. He's such a great leader!
It got me thinking... One day, maybe 10 - 15 yrs from now, the Schneemann family will take a trip to Cooperstown. It'll probably be for some baseball or softball tournament that one of our grandkids will be playing in. Daniel might even be one of the coaches by then. We'll all visit the Hall of Fame and when we pass by the bust of Jose Ramirez, our grandkids will get to hear a few clubhouse stories from their dad/uncle about what it was like to play with this 5 foot 8 inch GIANT of baseball player... What he was like as a teammate & a leader.
I'm sure Daniel will still be really humble, so before leaving the Hall, I'll make sure we also pass by the busts of Verlander & Scherzer & I'll let the grandkids know thier Dad/Uncle homered off both those dudes. Yeah, that will be a great day...
But, that's in the future. Tomorrow its on to the ALCS. And Josey is back to his "Josey Self". Its a bad day to be a Ray!

"I want it more than they do.”
That mindset changed the way I approached football, and eventually, it became something much bigger than football.
Because wanting it more isn’t about Sunday at 1:00 when 65,000 people are watching.
It’s about Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday when nobody is watching.
It’s choosing to be relentlessly committed when it’s hard, inconvenient, or uncomfortable.
Do that long enough and it becomes a habit. Then it becomes a tool you can carry into every part of your life — your career, your relationships, your health, your goals.
Wanting it more can be the difference between where you are and where you want to be.
So ask yourself: How badly do you want it? And what are you willing to do when nobody is watching?
Find A Way. Every Day.

There are 600+ other HS football teams in Ohio that have coaches that work 7 days a week, kids that have an obligation 6 days and “want it more.” It is impossible in HS sports to have a level playing field. I have met a lot of great coaches and kids on 10-0 and 0-10 teams.

In this terrible economy, I don’t know how you can afford not to vote Republican. Everybody’s talking about the $5000 dividend he promised last night, but don’t forget you still have the $5000 DOGE refund coming as well as the $2,000 tariff rebate. Are you really going to turn your nose up at $12,000?

I’m sorry if you’re a Republican and don’t want to hear this but the National Debt is $3.6 Trillion higher than when Trump took office 18 months ago. Here’s the 90 second speech I gave the night they passed the Big Bankruptcy Bill.

What a nightmare. By implementing the tariffs illegally, and now having to unwind them, the Trump administration created over $100 billion of profit for corporations selling foreign products, at the expense of American consumers.

Unlike Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq, where reporters embedded with U.S. troops documented the conflict from the ground, the war with Iran has largely been seen through government-produced videos, presidential social media posts and limited official briefings, leaving Americans with fewer independent accounts of what their government is doing in their name, @margbrennan notes.
