If you're going to adapt a game series, like Resident Evil, and pick a specific game, like RE2, the time in which it happened is important. You can't say "I'm adapting RE2 and having it placed in the modern time", which is what Cregger did, because you're then changing the lore about how everything happened and therefore not adapting it properly....
