That’s ridiculous to claim that making Ritherdon traffic free would help business. Business needs passing traffic, space for deliveries and good parking so the exact opposite is true!

Trying to reduce car use by increasing vehicle miles driven, traffic congestion, fuel burnt & vehicle emissions is bad for planet & public health. The #LTN experiment failed. We must end LTN schemes that increase #airpollution on community roads harming kids already most at risk.

As well as being overwhelmingly unpopular with residents, the LTNs in Wandsworth increased pollution, so we got rid of them. Other boroughs need to admit their mistakes and follow suit.

LTNs are the most contested and divisive issue seen in local politics in a generation and we firmly believe that the public have NOT been given a fair voice. It is important that as many people as possible attend the public meeting, giving everyone a chance to have their say!

So all this raises a larger question. If 10,000 vehicles are using Stoke Newington Church Street every day, it's because the demand is there to use that street as a main road. When that street becomes shut to through traffic, where will that demand spill over to?
