You can cancel an election and ban the winner from running (Romania), you can ban your opponents from ever running again (Hungary), you can threaten to ban the main opposition party and subject it to relentless investigations by the secret police (Germany), you can threaten a ban on the leading presidential candidate and make them wear an ankle monitor (France), every member of your circle can be investigated for corruption (Spain), you can try and cancel local elections because you will lose them (Britain), and you can storm the constitutional court with riot police because you want to control it (Poland).
You can just do all these things. The secret is you just have to be on the right side of the European Commission.

🇵🇱🇪🇺 Polish politician Grzegorz Braun is now calling for Poland to LEAVE THE EU after a confrontation over the country's Constitutional Tribunal.
Braun accuses Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government of using police to seize control of the court, calling it an attack on the rule of law.
He warns Poland could end up with TWO rival constitutional courts, each recognized by opposing political camps.
His proposed solution? POLEXIT.
Braun argues that withdrawing from the EU is the only way to resolve Poland's deepening constitutional crisis.
Here we GO.

🇵🇱 PM Tusk is being ACCUSED of SENDING police to SEIZE the Constitutional Tribunal tonight, and the timing doesn't help
Reports say the timing looks deliberate, right before the weekend, and that Tusk is using force because the president blocked his judges.
Also, it's pointed out that the EU has not criticized the move, unlike the frequent rule-of-law complaints it raised against the previous PiS government.

Conflict over Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal escalates in Warsaw: judge suspends its leadership and president cuts short Africa trip
A de facto power struggle has erupted within one of Poland’s most important state institutions in Warsaw today. For now, the outcome of this confrontation remains uncertain.
Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska called the police to the grounds of the Constitutional Tribunal, citing a potential threat to the safety of judges and staff.
Police did not enter the building, but a significant number of officers have been deployed in the surrounding area.
Korwin-Piotrowska suspended Tribunal President Bogdan Święczkowski and his deputy, Bartłomiej Sochański, for one month, temporarily taking charge of the institution herself.
Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party, called the developments a “coup” and urged Polish President Karol Nawrocki to intervene.
Nawrocki has cut short his visit to Senegal and is returning to Poland.
The conflict stems from a deep division over the composition of the court. Donald Tusk’s government refuses to recognise the Tribunal’s rulings because of judges appointed under the previous PiS government.
Meanwhile, Nawrocki and Święczkowski refuse to recognise judges elected by the Sejm in 2026.
Korwin-Piotrowska is among them: the president refused to accept her oath of office, while Święczkowski had previously prevented her from participating in court proceedings.

#BREAKING
🚨#Warsaw: Polish police carried out actions at the Constitutional Tribunal tonight after a judge warned of threats to safety in the middle of ongoing protests.
📌The move comes as PM Donald Tusk’s government pushes to install new judges elected by parliament, including a close ally, while President Karol Nawrocki and the current tribunal leadership refuse to fully recognize them.
📌Opposition supporters have protested outside for weeks, with earlier scuffles between demonstrators and officers as both sides accuse the other of undermining the court.

Poland's Constitutional Tribunal crisis escalated today. Judges elected by the current parliamentary majority (whose status President Nawrocki disputes) suspended Tribunal head Bogdan Święczkowski. Police entered the grounds after a judge reported threats and objects thrown amid protests; several arrests followed. The prosecutor seeks to lift immunities. Nawrocki turned his Senegal-bound plane around, stating the president must stay in Poland. This continues the years-long fight over control of the court that reviews laws: Tusk's government aims to reverse prior PiS appointments; the opposition calls the moves an illegal takeover. Both sides say they are defending the constitution.

This is an unconstitutional coup d’état, pure and simple! Donald Tusk is running scared because he knows he’s lost the majority and his regime’s rampant lawlessness will send him straight to prison. Sending police forces to raid the highest court in the country and suspend its president is the desperate act of an authoritarian dictator trying to subvert the rule of law to shield himself from prosecution. First public media, now the judiciary. Tusk belongs behind bars for high treason against the Republic of Poland!

🚨🇵🇱 JUDICIAL COUP UNDERWAY IN POLAND?!?
A situation is developing in Poland this evening so serious that the president had to turn his plane around over Spain and return to Warsaw…
Sources say police, on the orders of PM Tusk, stormed the building of the Constitutional Tribunal, the court responsible for ensuring legislation complies with the Polish Constitution.
Police entered the Tribunal grounds after a judge reported “threats” to judges and staff. 3 people were detained for jumping the fence.
The Tribunal calls the attempted suspension of its president and vice-president a COUP, while the opposition alleges a forced takeover…
The government says it is securing the site during the ongoing dispute over judicial appointments.
Nawrocki is expected back this evening.

INTANTO IN POLONIA....
🚨🇵🇱COUP UNDERWAY IN POLAND!
PM Donald Tusk has just sent police to storm Constitutional Tribunal building in Warsaw in the middle of the night.
Tusk waited until President Karol Nawrocki left the country before ordering the police takeover.
Nawrocki was halfway to Senegal when he abruptly turned his plane around and rushed back to Poland to confront the unfolding crisis.
The EU, which backs Donald Tusk, has STILL NOT issued a statement on this unprecedented crisis or condemned the attempted coup.

🚨BREAKING: POLAND’S POLICE TAKE THE CONSTITUTIONAL TRIBUNAL BY FORCE — TUSK’S RIOT UNITS ENTER THE HIGHEST COURT AT NIGHT, CHAINS ON THE DOORS, AND PRESIDENT NAWROCKI TURNS HIS PLANE AROUND
Poland is a Slavic EU and NATO state. On 30 October in Warsaw, police under Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government entered the Constitutional Tribunal (Trybunał Konstytucyjny) and took control of the building.
Riot police in helmets and shields stood outside the court after dark. Live coverage from Republika TV and opposition MP Dariusz Matecki showed the units at the site. Reports say officers entered through an internal gate and placed chains on the doors. This is the court that reviews laws against the Polish constitution. For years it has been the flashpoint between Tusk’s government and the previous PiS-appointed judges.
President Karol Nawrocki was already in the air on a flight to Senegal when the news broke. He posted that he is interrupting the trip and returning to Poland: “In such a moment the President must be in Poland.”
The frames show helmeted police outside the tribunal at night and the street coverage from the scene. The takeover is the claim from the opposition side. The government has not published its own account of the entry in the posts linked.
Who orders the police into the constitutional court — the prime minister who controls the government, or the president who is now flying back?
