DND responded at 5:30pm on a Friday evening (the 2nd 5:30pm response this week, with no head’s up) saying:
“Patient status falls within the clinical purview of provincial health authorities and attending clinicians.
The CAF will continue to respect the privacy of our members and their families throughout their recovery.”

Three follow-up emails to the Department of National Defence on this have gone unanswered. We asked Premier Danielle Smith's office, who directed us to Acute Care Alberta. Acute Care Alberta directed us back to DND. The Prime Minister's Office directed us back to DND.
ICYMI: we asked for this update, along with updated patient numbers, on Sunday evening -- citing conflicting information in recent stories we'd seen. DND published a statement three days later, but it didn't include this information.

Let me fix the title:
After nearly two years of being told that the loophole in MSP they were using was being closed, program for patients with long COVID chooses to deliberately cut services to hold its own vulnerable patients hostage and use them as pawns in a misguided, self-serving media campaign rather than seek appropriate funding for services they were providing.
Clinic was repeatedly told that what it was doing would never be acceptable under MSP funding rules; allowing the practice to continue would have disastrous consequences for access to specialist care in BC.
This is shoddy journalism @CBCNews. Especially when the same journalist who wrote a previous story on this was provided all the background as to what went into this decision but failed to even mention it here.
