We found similar results with 5.4% not engaging in any measures to slow the spread of COVID (no handwashing or social distancing), but here's the kicker, it's these folks that have the highest #COVID anxiety! So they aren't helping society OR THEMSELVES! sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
In a probability sample of >6,200 Americans, 5% say they haven't washed their hands with soap regularly in the past week, and 6% say it's safe to attend gatherings of over 100 people.🤦‍♂️

@JustinTPickett any chance you could point me to the source of this data? We're writing a follow up to our study and would love to cite additional resources that found similar rates of hand-washing etc. Thanks!

This is amazing! Clearly they feel it affords them a sense of control and predictability over the coronavirus...feline applications of our COVID research 😜
These stray cats are absolutely into the social distancing protocol. Let's be more like them

In his @huffpost article, @danieltencer suggests that Canadians "like the new normal" of working from home. Makes me think of our finding that staying home improves mental health by giving us a sense of control and predictability during #pandemic.
Excited that our collaboration is out! Looks like social distancing and staying at home empowers us by inviting us to participate in the global effort to flatten the curve.
Our study found that social isolation can actually be GOOD for your mental health! sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Despite the challenges and losses of #SocialDistancing & #StayHome, they appear to ease the mental health burden of #COVID by giving us a sense of control and predictability. Thrilled to see our collaboration published @stedwardsu & @cnucaptainslog: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

I don’t think I ever truly understood the concept of “because I have to” until I had to write up my dissertation with my newborn in tow.
Replying to @JanetSKWatson
As someone who had three children before tenure, I always hated it when people would ask “how do you do it?” because the only real answers were “because I have to” and “sometimes I don’t.”

Dr. Neimeyer answers a mother who lost an adult son and feels part of life is missing: "...It's just so tough trying to come to terms with the senselessness of it. I was his mom for over 25 years--and now I'm wondering what happens from here..." conta.cc/2F1TCTt
