Oreo was lying on his perch as the assessor approached, body and face tense with his ears forward and his tail wrapped tightly around his body. Oreo made eye contact when spoken to and he squinted his eyes and flattened his ears as the kennel door opened. Oreo tolerated petting along his head and back with the assess-a-hand while growling and backing away slowly. Pick up was not attempted at this time to reduce stress. ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ

A volunteer writes: Giving everyone the chance to admire his toys, Lucky Kentucky stretches out with his beautiful collection carefully circled around him. I love the way whatever game this is doubles as a chance to display them all. He probably has the nicest toys the Care Center has to offer, but only the vaguest interest in traditional playtime. Everyone seems to bring him the prettiest ones so that Lucky Kentucky can arrange his newest acquisition with his practiced eye. He's very particular with his organization. He's particular about a few things actually. Lucky Kentucky hasn't really been one for pets at the shelter, so his look with your eyes and not with your hands approach to his toys seems to also extend to himself as he keeps an eye out on his toys and Adoptions. Waiting for someone to notice his collection and take a chance on him, Lucky Kentucky is hoping to meet you soon. Lucky Kentucky tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent and may need time to warm up to his new home. โค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ป

A volunteer writes: The cat formerly known as Prince spends most of his time perched on his regal, purple pillow. He appreciates a low voice and a slow approach. Duke of York will accept petting, preferably with a backscratcher at this time. A volunteer writes: Duke of York loves to watch the sunset in the evenings. He knows the world is so much bigger and brighter and that there will be something to look forward to tomorrow. Duke's been having a bit of a time lately and his optimistic approach of finding some joy where he can is as heartening as it is heartbreaking. Shelter life has been a considerable shift for Duke and sometimes it's hard to let new people in. We've certainly been asking him to do a lot of that. He lost his home with the other cats and dogs he lived with and we don't know so much else about his life before. Not one to seek out pets, he'll sometimes accept our offers, but mostly Duke of York sits on top of his Kuranda bed waiting to watch the sun. There's nothing I love to picture more than thinking of him doing the same on a sofa with his forever family nearby. Cantaloupe came to ACC as a stray, so we don't have much information about her outside of the Care Center. She has remained tense and anxious while with us in the center and has not allowed staff to handle her much at all. She is looking for a quiet calm environment where she can decompress and be her very best self. โค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ป

What my friends at ACC say about me: I can go home today! I have lived with cats in my previous home. I am a sweet, social, older gentleman, looking for the perfect forever home! Mikkie was at the front, curious and sweet, and enjoyed all petting, leaning in very nicely for cheek rubs, and enjoyed petting along his back with a high tail and a relaxed face. He ignored treats and then easily went into the assessor's arms, where he lay for a couple of minutes and seemed reluctant to go back into the kennel, but once back inside, he ate some treats and then looked out at the assessor. Mikkie interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience. โค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ป

โก๏ธ MIKKIE IS ON THE EPL FOR MEDICAL REASONS - He has a heart murmur and needs to be in a less stressful environment. Behaviorally, Mikkie has been sweet and social - allowing all handling. This evaluation/diagnosis means that MIKKIE will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
What my friends at ACC say about me: I can go home today! I have lived with cats in my previous home. I am a sweet, social, older gentleman, looking for the perfect forever home! Mikkie was at the front, curious and sweet, and enjoyed all petting, leaning in very nicely for cheek rubs, and enjoyed petting along his back with a high tail and a relaxed face. He ignored treats and then easily went into the assessor's arms, where he lay for a couple of minutes and seemed reluctant to go back into the kennel, but once back inside, he ate some treats and then looked out at the assessor. Mikkie interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems.
