Waking up Saturday mornings to shit like this for 3 months was so peak
“GEN Z DOESN’T DRINK”
“GEN Z DOESN’T DATE”
“GEN Z DOESN’T BUY HOUSES”
“GEN Z DOESN’T HAVE KIDS”
“GEN Z DOESN’T SMILE”
Maybe because:
• They graduated into a pandemic
• Job hunted into an AI apocalypse
• Entered the housing market when rates hit 8%
• Watched a world war start before they turned 25
• Got their first paycheck and lost 30% to taxes they’ll never see benefits from
• Student loans kicked in the same month rent doubled
• Were told to “just network” during two years of lockdown
• Grew up on social media designed to make them feel worthless
• Watched billionaires add trillions during COVID while they lost their jobs
• Inherited a planet that’s literally on fire
• Were promised the American Dream and handed the American Bill
But yeah.
It’s the avocado toast.

A 9-year-old boy was grabbed by a stranger, forced into a car, and driven away while selling water on the side of the road.
But as the car sped through the streets, the terrified little boy looked out the window and began waving desperately for help. What happened next was unbelievable.
It happened in Jacksonville, Florida. The boy had been selling bottled water near an intersection when a man suddenly forced him into a vehicle and took off.
Shameika Dowell, who knew the boy and was helping supervise the children, witnessed what happened. She jumped into her own vehicle with her son and took off after the suspect, refusing to let the little boy disappear.
As she followed the car through the streets, she could see the boy inside, frightened and crying for help. She kept chasing until the driver finally stopped, then moved to block his escape.
But the boy was still trapped inside. Shameika rushed toward the vehicle and began kicking at the passenger door, determined to get it open. Other bystanders rushed over to see what was happening and began helping. They kept going until she finally managed to force the door open and pull the little boy to safety.
Police arrested the suspected kidnapper, and the boy was reunited with his family. Despite everything he’d been through, he later said he still wanted to sell water so he could buy clothes for school.
Shameika Dowell refused to look away when a little boy needed help. Her courage deserves to be recognized. 💙 – at Chicago, IL

Like this is what Black people deal with and y’all calling shit a phase. I hate y’all.
UPDATE: The couple's attorney, Kenneth Mollins, says Douglas Elliman has fired the real estate agent.
##
A Long Island couple is suing after they said they received a text message from a real estate agent while searching for an apartment in Queens that said, “ugh they are black.”
According to the lawsuit, the realtor apparently texted the couple instead of the owner of the apartment in Flushing.
Lisa Renee Olaso said she and her fiancé had driven up from Delaware to view the apartment, as they were relocating to New York. They have since found a home in Commack.
She said she received the text message as they were getting out of the car to meet the agent. When she confronted the agent, the agent tried to unsend the message but was unable to. She said the agent apologized, “and I appreciate that, but it doesn’t change the pain.”
“It doesn’t take away people who on social media had to read that and see that we’re still having to deal with this unnecessary discrimination, prejudice and racism in 2026,” she said.
The couple said they’re not looking for money but for their story to be told. “This is why I wanted to talk to an attorney to just see if there is any way to avoid anyone feeling the way I feel right now and the way that I felt when that took place,” Olaso said.
The lawsuit was filed in Queens alleging violations of state and federal discrimination laws.
1010 WINS has reached out to the realtor and her company for comment but has not heard back.

Lemar Brandon Qualls, 35, was shot and killed by police in Indianapolis after officers found him armed on a home’s porch. Bodycam footage captured the fatal encounter.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This video is digitally altered. In the unedited video, Qualls raises his firearm toward the officer and points it at him, at which point the officer opened fire in self defense. No charges were filed against the officer as the shooting was in line with IMPD policy.

They killed George Floyd on a false accusation of using a fake $20 bill.
They killed Eric Garner on a false accusation of selling loose cigarettes.
They killed Kalief Browder on a false accusation that he stole a backpack.
They killed Kohen Wiley on a false accusation that his mother stole diapers.
This is not new. This is not a bug in the system. This system has always lied to justify dehumanizing Black people as less than property. This system cannot fail those it was never meant to protect.

A police officer walked up the driveway of a house in a Houston suburb, pushed a woman against the garage door, and shot her son in the chest when he got up to object.
It was his own driveway. It was his own mother.
Robbie Tolan is the nephew of a Major League Baseball player. The car was his.
Bellaire, Texas, 31 December 2008, around two in the morning. Robbie Tolan, 23, and his cousin had just got home from a late trip out.
An officer ran the plate and typed a digit wrong. The system returned the car as stolen. It was not. It was Robbie Tolan's car, parked in front of the house he lived in with his parents.
Officers ordered the two young men to the ground in the front garden. Tolan's parents came out in their night clothes and told the police this was their house, their son, their car.
Sergeant Jeffrey Cotton arrived. He took hold of Marian Tolan and pushed her against the garage door.
Robbie, on the ground, pushed himself up to object to his mother being handled.
Cotton shot him three times from about fifteen or twenty feet. One bullet went through his lung and lodged near his liver.
He survived. The bullet is still in him. His baseball career — he had been a prospect in the Washington Nationals system — was over.
Cotton was charged with aggravated assault. In 2010 a jury acquitted him.
The civil case went all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States, which in 2014 ruled unanimously in Tolan's favour on qualified immunity — holding that the lower courts had improperly weighed the facts in the officer's favour. *Tolan v. Cotton* is now a standard citation.
He was in his own driveway. His parents were on their own porch. His father is Bobby Tolan, who played in the World Series.
None of it counted, because somebody typed a letter wrong and then a sergeant did not like being told whose house it was.
Robbie Tolan was shot by a police officer in his own driveway after a mistaken license-plate entry led police to believe his car was stolen. When he tried to protect his mother, he was shot three times. He survived, but his baseball career was over. The officer was acquitted.
His family was home. His car was his own. And one mistake changed his life forever.

White culture is rape. For 400 to 500 years during slavery, they raped Black boys and girls. During the 200-year Jim Crow era, white men frequently raped Black girls and boys with near-total impunity. Upon arrival in America, European colonizers raped Indigenous black children

This would be the same Mississippi where a young Black man’s death was ruled a drowning although the autopsy found no water in his lungs. The state of Mississippi thinks killing any Black person, of any age, for any reason, is acceptable.
