NEW from me

Today I addressed the City Club of Chicago, the longest-running civic forum in our City and unveiled my Growth Plan.
Only one candidate running for mayor has a proven track record of turning around a fiscal crisis - and that’s me.
Chicago has had enough unmet promises. What this city needs is someone who can deliver actual progress.
So today I stated my Growth Plan goals: lower costs, more housing, a growing population, jobs in every neighborhood, and a future where Chicago is leading the next economy.
I’m ALL IN Chicago.

Palmer Luckey says analysts claiming it's too expensive to manufacture in the US are lying to protect megacorps
"I think I have a more realistic view than almost anybody. One of the problems with all these analysts that are telling you that it's going to cost $37,000 to build an American iPhone or $100,000 to buy an American computer."
"They're trying to prop up a status quo that the megacorporations want to keep going. They want to outsource everything. They want to hire cheaper non-American labor."
"They are willing to say and do anything to convince you that it can't be fixed, that it can't come back, that America is this helpless, neutered, post-relevant empire, and it is just not the case."
"How do I know that? Because I have to make stuff in America every day because I work in the defense industry. The stuff that Anduril makes every day is not actually that different from a computer. My drones are basically computers. They have memory, a GPU, a CPU, sensors, batteries, a rugged integration."
"The only difference between an Anduril attack drone and a laptop is a keyboard and a screen. That is not that hard to figure out, especially for a guy like me who started Oculus and comes from the consumer electronics space."
"We're not going to let people lie about what America can and can't do anymore. We're just going to do it."

There’s no place like home. So why is Chicago making it so hard to build one?
Between skyrocketing property taxes, city fees, and bureaucratic red tape, Chicago has become one of the hardest cities in the country to build in.
In my first term as Mayor, I’ll cut approval and permitting times in HALF.
Build faster, grow faster. MORE housing means more people, a stronger economy, lower taxes, and a city that's actually thriving.
I’m ALL IN, Chicago!

Both the theory and […] empirical evidence supported the premise that increasing the supply of housing reduces sales prices and rents or moderates their growth and therefore makes housing more affordable to low- and moderate-income families.

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon says America holds the stronger hand against China, but warns that only American leadership can keep the world free and safe: “We have the better hand. The question is whether we play it right.” 🇺🇸🇨🇳
“We have all the food, water, and energy we need. We have peace in North America and South America. We’ve got the Atlantic and Pacific.
China imports 10 million barrels of oil a day. They’ve got terrible demographics, and their neighborhood is a very complicated area. They’re surrounded by countries that have been enemies in the past.
We have the better hand.
But only American leadership can keep the world free and safe for democracy. Only American leadership.
We’ve got to keep together our military and economic alliances because the economic battlefield is directly related to national security.
Where do we get our penicillin? Where do we get our graphite? Where do we get our rare earths?
My view is: Build America. Start with our own civics. Teach why our country, freedom, and democracy are so important.
Build our economy, because economic power is what allows us to do all those other things.
And then we need a sophisticated strategy to maintain American leadership.”

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon warns that America is weakening itself and its allies by putting idealistic policies ahead of national security: “We do the dumbest things in the name of good.” 🇺🇸🇨🇳
“We need to be more realpolitik. We go around the world constantly lecturing people about their labor laws, their climate policies, and human rights.
I’m not against human rights, but it needs to be coordinated with our national security interests.
There’s a great quote from Stalin. When FDR said the Pope wouldn’t agree with something, Stalin leaned forward and asked, ‘How many divisions does the Pope have?’
That’s the game we’re in.
We do the dumbest things in the name of good that actually make us weaker and make our allies weaker.
We have to be very thoughtful about this.
And a little bit of mea culpa: We all made a mistake. All of us should have been a little more thoughtful about China going back about 10 years.”

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon warns that America’s greatest threat isn’t economic or military, but losing the values that made the country great: “I think we’ve gotten a little bit soft.” 🇺🇸
“America has no divine right to success. We have the Constitution, which is extraordinary. It’s the embodiment of our values: enterprise, liberty, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and equal opportunity.
Those values are what make America strong, including God, family, country, and work ethic.
I think we’ve gotten a little bit soft. I think we made a huge mistake by not teaching this much more in schools.
The real risk is our heart, our soul, our grit, our courage. That is the actual risk.
America’s military strength is predicated on America’s economic strength, and our economic strength depends on keeping this wonderful system going.
There’s too much today that’s just tearing it down. It bothers me that we don’t celebrate these values, particularly on our 250th anniversary.“
Jamie is absolutely correct here. The greatest threats facing America is its internal battles, not the external ones. We as a country have lost our way and what it means to be American and being proud to be American.
