Last week, a group of volunteers joined forces to plant 450 saplings on Dartmoor, helping to recreate a resilient temperate rainforest for future generations. These are the first trees planted as part of the Duchy of Cornwall's plans to double the size of Wistman's Wood - one of Britain's last remaining ancient temperate rainforests. 🌳

Many thanks to all the volunteers from @MoorTrees who turned up to plant the hedges in the Hay Meadow. The sun even came out at times. #camping #trees #devon #reforestation #hedges #nature #nativetrees #dartmoor #volunteering #devon #greentourism #sustainability @greentourism

I'm in Devon at the moment where I gave a presentation at the AGM of @MoorTrees today. As preparation, I spent the day yesterday visiting Wistman's Wood, a remnant of temperate rainforest on Dartmoor - it's beautiful but heavily overgrazed by sheep, so there are no young trees.

Just back from great day surveying with @MoorTrees at Rewilding Coombshead @gow_derek. I helped plant these local provenance willow #Trees 5 years ago and they are already twice head height! Impressive results when you get combo of right trees and right soils. #woodland #Devon

Great to be back at @gow_derek’s Coombeshead Rewilding site in West Devon, planting hundreds of native broadleaf trees with @MoorTrees. We were there 3 yrs ago planting 5,000 trees so it’s wonderful to be part of the next phase. #rewilding #nature
