In ancient times, Germanic kings would give their subjects rings to win or keep their loyalty. A king who did this was hailed as the “ring-giver” (Old English: bēgġeofa) or “lord of the rings” (hringa þenġel). The closest equivalent today is me when I retweet my followers.

A thing I appreciate you is how you appreciate writing that are not maybe your preference to read. Books were were my life especially as a little girl and a teenager and one thing I learned was to be a little uncomfortable with an author’s style and go with it for a few chapters. I would usually or often become able to manage it not being exactly my preferred style to read through to the end of the book.
Fiction, especially, expanded who I am and gave me hope that my loneliness and ostracism would not be forever and that there was the world out there for me.
As an adult science-based non-fiction author, I think this practice helped me have the patience to stay with and read through terrible writing in academic studies so I could get important evidence or insights out of them.

No disrespect to authors.
Not even necessarily to the artists.
We've all had that day job where the boss tells us "yes, I know EXACTLY what I'm asking", and your rent is due.

They turned a huge ranch into a housing development a few years ago. Driving through I didn’t see a single American.
Crazy that some guy probably had to battle the elements and Comanche raiding parties to tame the wilderness and it was just given up to strangers without a fight.

A definitive Twitter experience for me was virologists (guys with labs, academic appointments at good places, and PI roles on NIH grants) telling me I was a stupid retard for entertaining the lab leak theory.
It demonstrated that there was no limit to the mendacity that the academic professional class would engage in.

Shit @MorlockP they found the entrance
A hole on the Moon just turned out to be the front door to a 50 km tunnel.
Japan’s Kaguya orbiter first spotted it. A pit about 50 metres wide and 50 metres deep, sitting in the Marius Hills on the Moon’s near side.
Then JAXA pointed the probe’s radar underground. The echoes came back with something huge: a lava tube roughly 100 metres wide, running about 50 km, and still intact. No collapse.
Scientists think it was carved by volcanic activity around 3.5 billion years ago. There may even be ice or water locked in the rocks inside.
That’s why JAXA thinks it could become a lunar base. Shelter from radiation, micrometeorites and brutal temperature swings, all built in.
