Our work on genetic determinants for S. aureus fitness in milk is now available online. The study also exemplifies how milk can modulate antibiotic susceptibility. Congrats @MaritaMarli and thanks to all collaborators (@DPorcellato @JWVeening @vincentdebakker @liuxuescience)!

Checkout @Bevika2 preprint! She used CRISPRi-seq to determine antibiotic-stress signatures, specifically of pneumococci treated with fluoroquinolone antibiotics. It's a really powerful approach revealing a surprising antibiotic combination therapy. 1/9 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

@felixrl_ took on a ~50-yr-old mystery in #Staph aureus cell biology and came out on top! Check out his paper on how #Staphylococcus aureus chooses its cell division plane, how it forms clusters, and why all this matters during infection... nature.com/articles/s41564-0…

New article out in Comm Biol by 1st authors @HiraJonathan and Bhupender Singh. Check out if interested in a) Cellular phenotypic heterogeneity in bacterial pathogen populations & how cell individuality shapes pop. behavior b) S. aureus c) new applications for chemical probes.
Phenotypic profiling detects differential cultivability and antimicrobial susceptibility in isogenic, but phenotypically heterogenous bacterial populations. @ChristianSLentz, @cans_uit doi.org/10.1038/s42003-024-0…

What does DivIVA do? New research in @mbiojournal reveals that, in Streptococcus pneumoniae, this structural protein is a key player in the orchestration of cell division and elongation. Get the details, including how scientists think DivIVA works, here: asm.social/26t

Very excited to share our latest preprint: a breakthrough in surface protein trafficking that we've studied for a long time. Perhaps more important is, the beauty of synchronized cell envelope biogenesis.

Our previously preprinted work on E. faecalis HtrA is now out @PLOSGenetics. A project close to my ❤️, started in 🇸🇬 by Adeline Yong and finished in🇨🇭 by @CristinaColome8 and supported by an international cast! journals.plos.org/plosgeneti…
The latest preprint from the lab is up. Here we asked how the cell responds when pilus biogenesis goes off the rails in E. faecalis. 😱 Come for the chaperone/protease action, stay for the WEIRD morphologies & two component system induction. 👇
