What an absolute insult!
The idea those running Bridlington & The Wolds' 3,964 registered businesses, the farmers on our 670 local farms, our 114 pubs' landlords and our 5,700 self-employed people, are somehow not working tells you it all about this govt's priorities & ideology.

I have written about the decline in hedgehogs. There's a huge amount of evidence that badgers are the cause. This thread spells out that evidence.🧵
Something is plainly going wrong for hedgehogs in farms, woods, gardens and parks despite a general improvement in the management of these habitats. Farmers leave more uncut grass and shrubs; gardeners leave more leaf piles, foresters are planting more native trees. Yet still the prickly beasts get rarer and rarer...

Great news from Emma Reynolds who says employers aren't working people, "they are companies".
So as a company, I've decided to stop working !
Should have done it years ago. I'll be at home from now on, or on holiday, doing whatever it is unemployed people do with their time. Maybe I might even be eligible for some benefit payments now @EmmaforWycombe ?
Good luck to my staff, who'll turn up this morning with nobody to tell them what needs doing, no diesel, no fertiliser and no wages on Friday.
HMRC might notice eventually. I just haven't got round to the PAYE. Or the VAT return. Or the corporation tax. I'm sure they'll understand, I'm not a person, And such tasks just seem a little bit like hard work to me !
If anybody calls chasing invoices they want paying, tell them to speak to the company.
We'll see how that goes........

These people are deeply stupid … Labour Minister Emma Reynolds says employers are NOT “working people”. They’re “companies”.
Oh Emma …99.9% of British businesses are SMEs, providing 60% of private sector jobs. And you just trashed them.
▪️95% of British businesses are MICROBUSINESSES. Ordinary people running shops, farms, cafés, building firms and family businesses. Working longer hours than their staff.
▪️ they take fewer holidays and have no guaranteed sick pay or maternity leave/paternity leave
▪️ Pay their staff even when customers haven’t paid them. I remember not paying myself. Often.
▪️ pay themselves LAST.
▪️ risk their own savings and homes through personal guarantees.
▪️ responsible for tax, regulations, pensions and employer’s NI.
▪️ company directors taking a salary, are on PAYE, just like their employees!
They take all the risk! What a stupid comment.

Bugger, I’d have spent the last week with my child over half term if I’d known I wasn’t working 🤦♀️
My bad

What an extraordinary statement. Apparently, according to Labour, employers aren't working people. Tell that to the small business owners working 60-hour weeks, risking their savings, paying their staff and keeping their businesses afloat. Labour can play with definitions and indulge in endless whataboutery, but it cannot escape the consequences of its decisions. Taxing employers affects jobs, wages and the very people Labour claims to protect.

Sums up this Governments attitude to the growth engines of this country.
Absolutely shocking admission here.
They haven’t got a clue.

Not one mention of no-stun. Anywhere. So perhaps thats what we should do? Just move to no stun?
I want to see the back of CO2 because its one less stone to throw and there are better options. But its infuriating that these imbeciles wont back a call for and end to no-stun.
The UK Government have at last launched a consultation on ending the inhumane CO2 slaughter of pigs 🐖
It's about time and let us hope that this could truly bring about significant change

Let's suspend it. For 5 years. Pay keepers and estates for lost income to do nothing.
And then assess the countryside at rhe end. Rights of way. Wildlife. And so on.
Those who wish it all to go forever I am sure will find the evidence they need to ban it. Problem solved.
The government have launched a call for evidence on the rearing, release and shooting of gamebirds in England, which closes on Sunday 1 November.
GB News’ Yorkshire and Humberside Reporter, Anna Riley, goes to a game shoot in Nottinghamshire to see how changing the rules would impact a traditional British countryside pursuit.

#familyfarmtax has nearly become a safe haven for politicians to hide behind, all the attention goes on that and everything else is ignored by the media! How about TB, bluetongue, farmgate prices , freshways 7 pence milk price drop?

But what do the Wildlife Trusts know about sustainable upland farming?
I mean it, what do they actually know about making upland farms sustainable in the widest sense of the word?
I’m yet to see an NGO/GO do this… they nearly always get mission creep and get rid of farmers
Fantastic news that the @WildlifeTrusts has succeeded in acquiring the Rothbury Estate.
A huge opportunity to show how nature restoration and sustainable upland farming can go hand in hand — delivering more for wildlife, cleaner water and carbon storage.

WTF? A Prime Minister who has never run a business in his life demands answers because a private business fails? … let me help you, Andy & co.
A retail chain needs to stay in fashion, needs to go with the flow! … But you and successive governments don’t like their “tat” products (mostly sourced off shore to sell them at £1!!! That the whole point right?) anyway…
for free (without a taxpayer funded £MULTIMILLION enquiry I’ll tell you the problems… (you’re welcome)
▪️massively increased regulations and compliance costs.
▪️cheap tat sourced from abroad, with rising shipping and transport costs.
▪️Hit by increased minimum wages and employer National Insurance.
▪️Hit by rising rents and business rates.
▪️Hit by soaring energy bills and net zero costs.
▪️Hit by higher interest rates.
▪️Hit by consumers with less disposable income.
▪️Hit by the soaring cost of borrowing to buy stock months in advance.
▪️Hit by higher insurance premiums.
▪️Hit by shoplifting, organised theft and security costs.
▪️Hit by packaging taxes, recycling regulations and environmental compliance costs.( which you just throw into general taxation, non of it changes the weather)
▪️Hit by higher fuel, warehousing and distribution costs.
▪️Hit by increased employment costs, pensions and statutory obligations.
▪️Hit by competition from overseas online retailers operating with very different overheads.( duty free … for foreign businesses oops)
▪️And hit by the impossibility of passing those costs onto customers, who shop at Poundland precisely because they need cheap stuff! … which isn’t cheap anymore (see above)
Every single time you add something on … so do they!
And the idiot, deluded politicians who have made Britain more and more expensive and difficult to do business in, are demanding to know why businesses are struggling?
You are all moronic. My work here is done 🤡

Together they represent one of the biggest transfers of wealth from households and businesses to the Treasury in decades – with little to show for it in public services.
Whether you're a business owner employing staff, a parent paying school fees, a farmer planning succession, an entrepreneur building wealth or simply someone trying to save for your family’s future...
- You keep less of what you earn.
- You keep less of what you invest.
- You leave less for your family.
Death by a thousand cuts.

Doncaster arable farmer Chris White said the lack of attention given to agriculture showed where the Government's priorities lay, while Devon dairy farmer Adam Westaway warned of growing risks to UK food security.
