Going to attempt to keep a thread of all the books I read in 2026. First up is the Fix by @JamesDixonBooks. Loved this book - was a nostalgic read with a good mixture of personal opinion and factual detail. Would highly recommend.

This book was a superb read about Ireland’s 1982 World Cup campaign. Took me a while to get used to the present tense narrative but it worked really well and was insightful and entertaining and great research for a project I’m working on.

This was another excellent read in the Jooma series. Fast paced and gripping storyline.

Just finished this awesome book by @BernardCornwell It was a recommended summer read on the book club podcast and was brilliant. I love the King Arthur myth and this was a very different but enjoyable retelling. Looking forward to reading rhetorical rest of the trilogy.

Turncoat by Matt Coughlan was a great read too. Really captured the passion of non league football and questioned what it means to be a fan and how hard it can be to find a new club. Enjoyed it.

Haven’t read a cricket book for a while and Twirlymen by @amolrajan was superb. Really interesting and engaging read with some excellent analysis of spin bowlers. Really enjoyed it.

Continued to work through the Alex Cross series with the next ones. This was a great storyline and one of my favourites so far in the series.

The autobiography of David Pleat was an enjoyable read especially where he has worked in football for so long and seen the changes from the simpler times through to the mega rich clubs of today. Insightful and well written.

The Waterfall by @GarethRubin was a great read. The four parts fitted together really well to create a great mystery story and the writer’s skill in making each of the four parts very distinct and different made it a perfect summer read.

Munichs by David Peace is one of the best books I’ve read this year. Beautifully written in a style that is respectful and honourable, it brought tears to my eyes at time. A brilliant piece of writing about a truely tragic event.

I’ve also read these two brilliant next two books in the Joona Linda series. A really fantastic crime series with great characters and engaging plot lines.

Got a bit behind with this but over the past couple of months, I read these two brilliant Bond novels by @kimtsherwood . Probably the closest to Ian Fleming’s style of Bond writing I’ve read and a really fantastic series.

El Clasico by Robert Fitzpatrick was a detailed look at the history of Barcelona and Real Madrid. It was well researched and offered some interesting details about the rivalry.
