My friend Joseph Lovell (@KYMaverickreal) is days away from possible listing for a double lung transplant at Vanderbilt. Once listed, surgery can come within about two weeks.
🚨His previous caregiver arrangement had to end because it was unsafe. 🚨 Without a replacement caregiver, he may have to withdraw from the program. Vanderbilt will not list him without a committed caregiver plan.
This is not a paid nursing job. Vanderbilt requires unpaid caregivers. Joe cannot pay anyone for care services. He will cover all transportation, room, board, and living expenses. He already has a condo secured close to Vanderbilt.
What Vanderbilt requires (from their lung transplant education materials and program guidance):
* Two designated caregivers: a primary and a backup.
* After hospital discharge, the primary caregiver must stay with Joe 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for three months.
* Joe and the primary caregiver must live within about 10 minutes of Vanderbilt during that period.
Caregivers cannot be paid for the caregiving itself. Programs do this so the support does not disappear when money runs out. (Please don't comment with suggestions for paid agencies - he cannot utilize them whatsoever).
* The primary caregiver should be a non-smoker, able to drive, and physically able to help a recovering patient.
This is not licensed medical care. The Vanderbilt team teaches caregivers what they need: getting Joe to frequent appointments, helping him eat, making sure meds are taken on schedule, watching for problems, helping with personal care as needed, logging vitals, and driving him home after procedures like bronchoscopy (he will be sedated).
A backup person is required so the primary caregiver can have coverage.
Joe needs someone there with him for those three months after surgery. Covering at least most days, 24/7, in Nashville is the immediate need. A nursing student, a single person who can be in Nashville, or someone who works remotely would be an especially good fit.
Our local Middle Tennessee X community has rallied additional tangible support - people who cannot leave kids or jobs but still want to help will be organizing meals, laundry, cleaning, and support for the caregiver so this is as workable as possible. If you are local and want to help in this way, feel free to DM me.
If you can be Joe's caregiver, or you know someone who can, please DM Joe today at @KYMaverickreal or message me and I will connect you.
Time is extremely short.
🚨Please share this widely. 🚨
Listing, and therefore the transplant, depends on having this support in place.

🚨Urgent Lung Transplant update:
I should now be within a week of listing for a lung transplant at Vanderbilt. Once listed, surgery is often within two weeks.
Vanderbilt requires a primary caregiver for the next 3 months. If I cannot fill that role, I have to withdraw from the program.
I need a replacement who can cover at least 4 days a week, 24/7, here in Nashville.
I’m reaching out to friends. If you can do this, or know someone who can, please DM me today.

In 2023 I named and shamed the lone holdout juror from the Michael Chesna murder trial who refused to deliberate on an 11-1 guilty vote and caused a mistrial. I didn’t see John or any other conservatives saying I was a bad person for doing that. In fact, most conservatives loved it because I was calling out a not guilty voter. They only don’t like it when you call out guilty voters. tbdailynews.com/2023/07/12/j…
Disappointed see @DoctorTurtleboy encouraging this activity from @RyanNBCBoston and @SueOC_NBCBoston and/or himself tracking down the lone juror name or the names of any of these jurors. That is not journalism. Sue/Ryan/NBC may have made it easy, doesn't mean you should do it.

Rest in peace, Andy Williams of ETID, Atomic Rule and All Elite Wrestling. When it comes to leading by example, Andy was THE ultimate example to follow from the moment you met him.
A beacon of kindness, the benchmark of cool, and an unbreakable pillar of love and support to everyone in his life. You’re going to read story after story over the next few days (and forever after that) of Andy being the coolest person in the room, having an experience or words of wisdom about every possible scenario you were going through. To know Andy was to love Andy, but more importantly, to know Andy was to feel loved by Andy.
I’ll have much more to say another time. I can only hope that this year relents soon and that everyone takes care of each other and themselves the way that Andy helped us do time and time again. My heart is with Hana, Pepper, his band mates, Buffalo, and the millions of people whose lives were touched by Andy’s gentle strength.
Andy was our second guest on HardLore, and in his honor, there will be no new episode this week. Andy’s episode will be upscaled and restored to its original quality to be released tomorrow.
Love you all.

Has anyone considered that MAYBE, just maybe the reason Lindsay Clancy has never heard the voice again is because she dove out a window, landed on her head and since that moment has received proper medical care as well as extensive mental health treatment in a hospital? #lindsayclancy

Motion to change the standard from “beyond a reasonable doubt” to literally anything else, because understanding what it means has kind of become an ongoing issue.
