Between Trump Accounts and X money, a lot of people are going to leave money on the table for themselves and their kids because of politics. Too bad!
I am sympathetic to not wanting to vote for Scott Wiener, but voting for Connie Chan is insane, I’m sorry (and I know a lot of San Francisco Republicans disagree with me on this).
I am really torn.
My moderate friends tell me to vote for @Scott_Wiener, but the people who randomly block roads yelling "Free Palestine" say I should vote for @ConnieChanSF.
Tough call.
In Vienna, all the locals told us that this cake was very dry, overrated, and that standing in line for it was a bad idea.
The cake was very good, not dry at all, and the line was maybe 5 minutes.
Were the Austrians sly gatekeepers? Under-appreciative of their local treasures? Or was I easily impressed?

I’m generally a Europhile especially with food but American pastries (scones, muffins, biscuits) are underrated, and French laminated pastries are overrated.
Mill Valley denizens with ICE OUT stickers on their Teslas (bought before Elon “went crazy,” as they’ll make sure you know) will be devastated.
Democrats’ vague gesturing about “healthcare” is really just promising more of this.
For the past week I've read on here that Obamacare premiums are set to rise 13%, which follows large increases in preceding years. Simultaneously there are endless stories of Medicare/Medicaid fraud, usually by foreigners.
Those of us who patiently pay our taxes and follow the rules are a bunch of suckers.
Since people seem to enjoy my junior associate stories, a firm I worked at had a Halloween costume contest. Unspoken rule was that it was for the staff. A first year associate wore a very elaborate witch costume to work, not realizing she’d be the only lawyer in costume.
This is somewhat true, but the trick is to find good restaurants that have been open a while, cater to a 35-50 crowd, and don’t do much social media. Good example is Routier in San Francisco. Great food, can walk in and get a table most nights. Not on many “lists” and doesn’t need to be. Terzo is another one.
Genuinely think that Resy and OpenTable have ruined the restaurant scene in many cities, including NYC
Impossible to walk into a great restaurant and be pleasantly surprised. Unless you are making plans weeks ahead of time, you will never find a seat
Social media obviously also has a lot to do with it too. Every decent place now has massive lines in front of it. There is no sense of hidden gems that only locals know about
Feels like the spontaneous experience of dining no longer exists
Judge Oldham shows that legal writing can be entertaining without being theatrical and annoying.
Reminds me of a story I heard from someone I worked with early in his career. Partner was reaming him out for not sending some memo. Associate insists he sent it. Partner quietly searched Outlook and then said he’s not going to debate about whether or not it was sent.
I’ve eaten many burritos in San Francisco, including every top ranked spot. The first burrito I’ve had in LA (Sonoratown) was orders of magnitude better than anything in San Francisco.

Anthropic will make ~1,000 employees worth +$100m at $2 trillion market cap.
There's ~11,000 Americans with $100m in investable assets.
So something like 1 in 12 Americans with $100m (liquid) will be from Anthropic. If you add in Openai, maybe 1 in 7.
Plot twist: the lawyer accused of White mediocrity was affiliated with the Center for Intersectionality and Social Policy Studies at Columbia University and took his wife’s last name.
WTF: “I think what’s happening here, quite candidly, is you are very intimidated for some reason, Mr. Young, with Black excellence, in light of your White mediocrity. Yeah. Right?,” Judge Brown said. news.bloomberglaw.com/us-law…

👀👀 An actual in-court exchange between a lawyer & TX federal judge Ada Brown, now facing an ethics investigation for a slew of misconduct, including mistreating lawyers, law clerks & staff, refusing to manage her docket &, in practice, “abandoning” her job as judge. @The_LAP_
The funny thing about this map is that the portions marked “?” includes Molise, which is a region that present day Italians joke does not exist.
I am generally anti-regulation, but I could get behind a complete and total shutdown of food delivery apps. Pizza and Chinese places can deliver using their own drivers. Otherwise no delivery allowed.
