Empowering Indian Farmers: The Arya.ag Model
Over the last 5–7 years, agriculture has started getting the attention and investment it deserves. And that’s a positive change for the sector.
In an exclusive conversation with Dr Navneet Anand, Editor, IndiAgri, Anand Chandra, Co-founder & COO of Arya.ag, talks about how growing investor confidence is opening up new opportunities for agriculture.
Sharing his experience, Anand highlights how Arya.ag has raised nearly Rs 1,100 crore in capital to support its expansion. He also emphasises the need for a stable and predictable policy framework to keep this momentum going.
As he points out, India’s 15 agro-climatic zones give the country a unique advantage, with the potential to grow a wide variety of crops.

As Uttar Pradesh prepares for Rabi sowing, KRIBHCO supplies around 80,000 quintals of certified wheat seed to farmers annually, while offering seed growers Rs. 200 per quintal above MSP.
The cooperative also supports farmers through fertiliser supplies, training and village-level networks.

Today, October 16, 2026, GreyMatters Communications, in partnership with FIJEEHA and IndiAgri and supported by KRIBHCO, organised a Knowledge & Policy Engagement Webinar on “Cooperatives & Fertiliser Security: Strengthening India’s Agricultural Resilience from Production to the Farmer.”
The discussion focused on how cooperatives, the right farm technology and strong farmer institutions can together ensure timely fertiliser availability, balanced nutrient management and the efficient use of fertilisers.
Dr. Tejinder Singh, General Manager (Marketing), KRIBHCO, highlighted the role of cooperatives in ensuring fertilisers reach farmers at the right time, supported by extension education and skilling. He also spoke about KRIBHCO’s farmer services, including soil testing and field demonstrations.
Dr. Manish Kumar, Senior Scientist, ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal, said farmers need the right agricultural equipment for balanced fertilisation and better nutrient use efficiency. He pointed to proper seed and fertiliser application, and to calibrating equipment so that over-application and wastage are avoided.
Puneet Kashyap, CEO, Khushaal Honey & Dairy Producers Association (FPO), Punjab, noted that cooperatives have done a great deal to reach and educate farmers. Challenges remain, such as digitalisation of PACS and logistics during the peak fertiliser supply season. He added that farmers are gradually adopting soil testing, balanced fertiliser application and bio-inputs, and are seeing the benefits. Patience is key, however, as bio-inputs and sustainable practices take time to show results.
The session was moderated by Ashish Paliwal, Advisor, IndiAgri.
The webinar highlighted how timely availability, farmer awareness, appropriate technology and empowered farmer institutions can strengthen India’s fertiliser security and build a more resilient agricultural ecosystem, from production to the farmer.
