First foreign astronaut to board Chinese space station:
A Pakistani astronaut will join the Shenzhou-24 crewed flight mission as a payload specialist, said the China Manned Space Agency on November 7, 2026.
The newly released Shenzhou-24 mission patch features jasmine, Pakistan's national flower, adorning the "SZ-24" lettering.
With China's space station going to receive the first foreign visitor, the mission will mark the first joint flight involving Chinese and foreign astronauts in the history of the country's manned space program. After completing a short on-orbit flight, the Pakistani astronaut will return to Earth aboard the Shenzhou-23 spacecraft.
In February 2025, China and Pakistan signed a cooperation agreement on astronaut selection, training and participation in Chinese space station flight missions in Islamabad, officially launching astronaut selection from Pakistan.
After a rigorous three-stage selection and assessment process, two Pakistani reserve astronauts were selected. After completing all training and passing the evaluation in China, one will carry out the crewed flight mission while the other will serve as a backup.

Introducing Arete-27B: Qwen3.8-27B, post-trained to reinforce Western values.
Chinese open models are currently the strongest available, but they ship with state-aligned behavior in the weights. We built an 803-prompt eval across seven value categories, including freedom of expression, democracy, and privacy, and measured how often a model adopts China’s party line.
After fine-tuning on roughly 53 million tokens, Arete-27B's propaganda rate fell from 22% to 1%, in line with the Western models we tested. Its Hermes Bench score shows no significant performance tradeoffs.
The values in an open model are one fine-tune away.
