YOUTH EMPOWERMENT SYMPOSIUM: TURNING POTENTIAL INTO JOBS AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT Thousands of young people are expected to converge in Harare from 4-5 November 2026 for the Youth Empowerment Symposium organized by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training. The Symposium comes at a critical time as Zimbabwe implements National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and pursues Vision 2030. Its main objective is to connect young people to practical opportunities in skills development, entrepreneurship, innovation and employment creation. The programme will focus on translating vocational training into marketable skills for productive sectors including agriculture, mining, construction, manufacturing and technology. Emphasis is on strengthening linkages between training institutions, employers, financial institutions and markets to ensure skills translate into livelihoods, businesses and jobs. The Symposium advances President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa's philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind, ensuring youth in rural and urban areas, including persons with disabilities, are active participants in national development. It is guided by the principle that anything for the youths without the youths is not for the youths, creating space for young people to articulate their concerns and propose solutions. Beyond economic empowerment, the Symposium will address social challenges affecting youth, including drug and substance abuse, unemployment and digital risks, through mentorship, awareness and support systems. The event also positions Zimbabwe ahead of the 2026 YouthConnekt Africa Summit in Rwanda (25-27 November), where Zimbabwe is bidding with Zambia to host the 2027 edition. Hosting would provide a platform to showcase Zimbabwean innovation and convert continental partnerships into investment and market opportunities. #YouthEmpowermentZW #YouthConnektAfrica

BEYOND ELECTION CLAIMS: CHAMISA FACES QUESTIONS OVER LEADERSHIP AND OPPOSITION FAILURES Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa, continues to voice claims on social media that he won the 2018 and 2013 presidential elections. This behaviour reflects a desperate attempt to maintain visibility amid the strong mobilization and consolidation of power by ZANU PF. It is essential to address Chamisa's statements to prevent further misrepresentation of the electoral reality in Zimbabwe. • ZEC results binding and representative of the true picture :Official results from the Electoral Body indicate that in 2018, H.E. President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa secured 50.8% of the votes and subsequently won the 2023 presidential election with 52.6%. Chamisa's refusal to acknowledge these results is misleading and unfortunate, highlighting a tendency towards intentional deception. His actions portray him not only as a misleader but also as someone who could potentially misguide the public. • Chamisa’s actions smack of desperation :Chamisa’s rhetoric can be seen as politically exploitative, as he appears to be leveraging misinformation to maintain his relevance among his dwindling supporters. This suggests a clear intent to manipulate the narrative for personal gain, undermining both truth and public trust. Chamisa’s continued rejection of the declared results raises questions about the political strategy behind his public statements. His critics contend that repeatedly revisiting past elections without presenting new, verifiable evidence risks being perceived as an attempt to sustain political relevance rather than advance a constructive national agenda. • Chamisa finds it easy to blame others but himself :Moreover, Chamisa has distanced himself and his inner circle from accountability for past political errors. Former allies, including Tendai Biti, Douglas Mwonzora, Jameson Timba, and Job Sikhala, have publicly disagreed with his leadership style. Disgraced journalist Hopewell Chin'ono has also criticized Chamisa for allegedly privatizing the CCC, which contributed to the party's electoral failure. This culmination of factors paints a troubling picture of a leader struggling to adapt and accept responsibility for his actions. Blaming any outside forces is unfortunate as Chamisa only has to look in the mirror to see the real villain in his doomed political career. #PoliticalReality @marapira_farai @dereckgoto @DumisoJnr22247 @MairosiWatungwa @MadondoMaria @SibandaGra80441 @ChambatiLevison @ChelesaniSiban7 @mattmutaz

HARNESSING THE POWER OF SPORT TO ADVANCE VISION 2030 Sport has become a powerful unifying force in Zimbabwe, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and fostering national cohesion beyond political, social and cultural differences. In pursuit of Vision 2030, Government is leveraging sport not only for entertainment but as a driver of unity, health and economic growth. Through the principle of leaving no one and no place behind championed by H.E. President Dr E.D. Mnangagwa, investment in facilities like the Mosi-oa-Tunya Stadium in Victoria Falls is expanding access to opportunity. The President's support for national teams, including the Warriors and the Sables, underscores sport's role in strengthening social cohesion. Sport is also enhancing Brand Zimbabwe and promoting sports tourism. Hosting international events and the appointment of Kirsty Coventry as the first African IOC President in 2025 are elevating Zimbabwe's global profile. Furthermore, sport is driving youth empowerment and economic transformation by creating jobs across the value chain - from athletes and coaches to event managers and vendors - while providing positive alternatives to drug and substance abuse through academies and training facilities. #ZimSports #UnitedThroughSport

ZIMBABWE'S COMMONWEALTH RETURN: STRENGTH IN UNITY Zimbabwe's renewed engagement with the United Kingdom over its possible readmission into the Commonwealth represents a significant moment in the country's diplomatic journey. Recent discussions led by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, with British parliamentary leaders and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK Executive Committee have brought fresh momentum to Harare's long-standing ambition to re-join the community of nations it left in 2003. The meetings, including engagements with the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, and Baroness Taylor of Bolton, demonstrate the value of parliamentary diplomacy in opening channels of dialogue and building bridges between nations. - Rejoining the Commonwealth strengthens Zimbabwe's global standing :Zimbabwe's pursuit of readmission should be understood as an investment in its international relationships, influence and future opportunities. Returning to this community would offer renewed opportunities to participate in discussions on global development, governance, trade, education and other shared concerns. The willingness of Sir Lindsay Hoyle to support Zimbabwe's aspirations provides an opening for continued dialogue, while engagements with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association demonstrate the potential value of institutional cooperation. - Economic gains through international cooperation :In today's interconnected global economy, no country can afford to overlook the advantages of constructive cooperation. Zimbabwe has significant economic potential that requires stronger international partnerships and greater opportunities to connect local enterprises with regional and global markets. The Commonwealth includes both advanced and developing economies through which member states can exchange commercial knowledge, explore investment opportunities and cooperate on development priorities. For Zimbabwe, renewed engagement could help open doors for business-to-business cooperation, encourage investor dialogue and strengthen institutional linkages. - Building bridges towards Commonwealth readmission :Advocate Mudenda's engagement demonstrates Zimbabwe's continued commitment to re-joining the Commonwealth. These discussions provide an opportunity to rebuild relationships, strengthen parliamentary cooperation and garner support for the country's bid. This approach aligns with Zimbabwe's foreign policy mantra of being a "friend to all and enemy to none" - pursuing dialogue in the interest of national development, and recognising that nations achieve more through cooperation than isolation. #CommonwealthReengagement #FriendToAllEnemyToNone #ZimEconomicDiplomacy
