Florida leads the nation in education freedom. Since we enacted universal school choice in 2023, nearly 1.4 million students across the state are now benefiting from charter schools, private school scholarships, homeschooling, and personalized learning opportunities.
When parents are empowered to make the best choices for their children, schools compete for students—and that competition raises the bar for traditional public schools to improve as well. Florida ranks #1 for education, and our statewide graduation rate reached a record high last year.
Other states are already looking to Florida as a model for their school choice reforms. If the federal government works to establish universal school choice nationwide, every child in America can benefit from the same education freedom that has delivered great results in Florida.

Educational choice advocates/ESA supporters need to be more aware of how words are being used against them. This is getting to be a little silly. I wrote about this problem in @NextSteps_Edu a while back.

It doesn’t have to be ESA versus public school. In fact, it can be ESA AND public school.

#Schoolchoice isn’t just charters & vouchers & ESAs.
273,475 students in Florida used open enrollment in 2019 to attend other public schools, acc. to this great new report from @JudeSchwalbach @reason.
FL is a leader here, but Reason offers 3 good suggestions for improvement.
Six states—AZ, FL, ID, KS, OK and UT—have implemented four of five best practices for open enrollment, which allows kids to choose any public school with open seats. While 19 states, including TX, MI, NY and VA, have not implemented any best practices.
