I still contend that Florida State getting shafted in 2023 is one of the travesties of college football. They were literally an undefeated power 4 champion and had the best defense in the country. They just beat a top 15 team by 10 points in a neutral site with a new QB. But FSU didn't make as much money for ESPN as Alabama or Texas (especially with a potential Alabama Texas rematch) so they were left out. Jokes on the committee though. They didn't get that Texas Alabama rematch they wanted. Both teams lost. Tell me - what blue chip athlete would want to play for a team who can go undefeated and still get left out of a 4 team playoff? It's no wonder FSU struggled after that. It was unforgivable and did perhaps irreparable damage to the sport. I know Texas beat Alabama by 10 at their place, but it would have been more forgiveable to put Alabama in over Texas than to put them both in over FSU.
