Among students who applied to 16 or more schools, 43% received at least one waitlist from a school with an acceptance rate below 15%.
Among students who applied to just one to three, that number was zero.
Students applying to 16+ colleges were nearly 10x more likely to be waitlisted than students applying to just 1–3 schools.
Sometimes more applications don’t mean more certainty.
