It is VERY ILLEGAL to alter this mans picture in the UK
Whatever you do, please DO NOT alter or satirize this picture in any way.
The UK police would REALLY not like that.

Opening Jackdaw = less imported LNG.
UK North Sea Gas: Emits ~21..28 kg of CO₂ per barrel of oil equivalent (boe).
Imported LNG: Emits ~79..85 kg of CO₂ per boe.
Opening up Jackdaw produces less CO₂, and generates £b's in revenue isn't that a good thing?
I am furious that the government approved Jackdaw - a gas field that will do nothing for jobs, bills, or energy security.
This climate vandalism has to stop.
The answer is No To Rosebank.

We are in an abusive relationship with our own government. For years the public has been hammered by Covid lockdowns, Ukraine, the Middle East and a relentless cost-of-living crisis. All the while, Britain has been sitting on its own energy reserves. Now, with prices surging and geopolitical risk rising, the Government suddenly approves Jackdaw.
Why now?
Because reality has finally smashed through the ideology. Every country needs cheap bountiful energy. It is critical for prosperity and security.
Our government has been and is abusing us.

@jennykleeman I watched you on @SkyNews this evening and I'm afraid your knowledge about gas markets is simply incorrect
I recommend you read my recent report which explains from first principles how gas prices are set
It's also very simple to see that gas prices are not global by looking up the gas price in different places
Henry Hub is the main US benchmark
JKM is the Asian benchmark
TTF is the main European benchmark
NBP is the UK benchmark
CME gives all their prices in $/mmbtu ie the same currency and units for easy comparison

You are so wrong...
I suggest you read my recent report on gas markets which explains in detail how prices are formed
When the more expensive source is displaced by a cheaper source the price is lowered
It might not be a large reduction but it absolutely will be lower
Jackdaw could displace price setting LNG for between 2 and 4 months of the year and that would have a bigger impact
Report is linked at the bottom of this post

Increasing domestic gas production WOULD lower UK gas prices
Prices are set using marginal pricing
UKCS gas is obviously cheaper than LNG imports
More UKCS gas means the most expensive LNG cargoes are displaced which means the marginal source of supply is cheaper
Which means the gas price is cheaper
Jackdaw alone could displace price setting LNG for between 2 and 4 months of the year which would be a bigger reduction than simply removing the most expensive LNG
My report sets out the mechanism of price formation from first principles... You should read it

My report makes six key recommendations:
Fix the broken understanding of how the gas market works. Policymakers should recognise that British gas production is not sold on global markets at a global price. The GB gas market uses marginal pricing and additional domestic production displaces more expensive LNG imports, thereby reducing British gas prices. The report argues that claims that additional UK production cannot affect domestic prices are simply wrong.
Increase UK Continental Shelf gas production. Domestic gas should be preferred to imports wherever possible. UKCS gas is both cheaper and cleaner than imported LNG and provides a secure source of supply directly connected to the British gas network.
Reduce reliance on electricity imports. Britain is increasingly depending on electricity imports during periods of low domestic renewable generation. However, highly correlated weather patterns mean low wind generation in Britain can coincide with shortages elsewhere. The report warns that Norway and France cannot be assumed to provide unlimited electricity to their neighbours during periods of stress.
Model gas and electricity security together. The gas grid transports far more energy than the electricity network. Electrifying heating will take decades while gas-fired generation will remain critical to electricity security for years to come. The report argues that planning should recognise the interdependencies of gas and electricity to a greater extent.
Focus on cheap energy. Rapidly rising network costs are overtaking fuel costs as the main driver of energy bills. The report calls for tighter control of network expenditure and for the suspension of the Connect & Manage regime, arguing that consumers should not be required to fund expensive infrastructure whose output is frequently constrained or wasted.
Treat energy security as national security. The government should subject energy policy to an explicit national-security test, prioritising resilience, diversity of supply, sufficient domestic energy capacity and the preservation of strategically important industrial capability alongside affordability and sustainability.

Renewables will cause a grid collapse sooner or later, and when it happens, the industry will lie through its teeth and blame anything but the actual cause - and the media will swallow the narrative wholesale. No lessons will be learned. The policy will not change. Power supply will become ever more expensive and precarious, until we're into full blown energy rationing. Warnings will fall on deaf ears.
It’s official: a legal investigation has found engineers in Britain’s electricity grid control room are stressed because renewables make it so hard to keep the lights on. And when they raise concerns, managers won’t listen - they only want “good news”

Reminder: just yesterday we learned that:
A) a former ISIS guard for a beheading squad came to yookay illegally on a boat, obviously because of the ECHR/HRA he can't be jailed or deported, living freely;
B) SAS guys sent on missions to deal with ISIS beheaders were then arrested for MURDER for dealing with them; they were lied to by the military police; they have been told they can never be clear of the charges (because the ECHR/HRA means any time some lawyer like Jolyon or Hermer wants to team up with nutters on a ECHR case, the government will be forced to investigate again and remember Hermer's friend *invented* war crimes to bring cases against British soldiers, but obviously wasn't jailed, triples all round in the Inner Temple).
So we're importing the jihadis at scale while prosecuting for murder SAS we rely on to defend us from the jihadis - and if you don't like this you're fascist and it's a reason to ban X in yookay.
No you will not see Kemi-kasi campaign on these issues because the Tories agreed with Labour for 25 years that this combination is 'defending civilisation'. The Tories imported many of the jihadis now in the news, and the Tories approved all the worst officials and lawyers in SW1 bringing the lawfare cases, including against those who were given medals by the Queen for stopping IRA terrorist attacks - they now have to beg for cash for lawyers in their 70s/80s.
And because Reform is a bin fire which can't maintain focus on anything for 2 minutes -- like Kemi-kasi -- you probably won't see anything sustained from them either.
